I currently own the Nintendo switch, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo switch is my go-to gaming system. The fact I can play it to my television or take it on the go has been, by far, the greatest aspect. I travel for work and it goes everywhere with me with ease.

It's admittedly a fairly modest upgrade in terms of actual new features or content, but a welcome one. And it makes this undoubtedly the best way to play a sprawling epic that still stands tall as one of the greatest achievements in Nintendo's iconic adventure series. Before we get to what's new, here's what IGN said about Breath of the Wild in our original review.

Its versatility, library of games, and appealing prices are what make it well worth buying today. The ongoing support from Nintendo makes the console a safe purchase in 2026, and you can expect new updates, extra features, and some occasional new games for the Switch.

It's really nice. I mean, look at it. Like I said, we got our hands on the white Joy-Con version. It's super clean, but also just build-wise. Like it feels nice. The texture of the back of it feels different, but like it's not like ultra-textured or anything. It's just a nice, subtle upgrade to the feel.

It’s just such a perfect franchise for a portable platform like Nintendo Switch. Well, I do sort of question how portable the humongous Switch 2 really is. I don’t take it places like I did the original, BUT MY POINT STANDS!

This is sort of a combination between a game console and a portable and it has a lot of moving parts which come included with this package which allow you to really do a lot of different things with this console which makes it one of the most compelling new systems we've seen in a long time.

Since then, they've made the Nintendo Switch 2, but I still think the OLED Switch is still a very beautiful console, and I think it's still worth buying for a lot of people out there. Now, if you want to pick up the OLED Switch, links will be down in the description below. You can get that from there, and you can help support the channel at the exact same time.

In my opinion, the Switch is one of the most innovative and inspiring consoles of this generation. By showing that a handheld system not only can be a great way to game, but that its games don't have to be lesser versions of their bigger titles. But Nintendo also realized that their first iteration of the Switch wasn't perfect.

Nintendo's Joy-Cons had a big stick drift problem

(fun, upbeat music) I don't feel like I've paid for the Switch's mobility with the quality of the games it plays. It's undeniably an underpowered system compared to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, and that sacrifice of graphics power is noticeable in ports like Doom. But the fact that I can play Doom on the go at all is impressive.

And Nintendo has come close in some regards, but has fallen well short in others. The first thing that struck me about the Switch is the overall quality of its look and feel. The handsome matte finish of the two included Joy-Cons feels almost silken, begging to be touched.

While its sparse mixture of old and new sports varies in quality, Switch Sports largely sticks the landing on what made its predecessors memorable: intuitive motion controls, the ability to effortlessly get a group of people up and moving, and some killer menu music that's liable to get stuck in your head all day. Just don't expect to spend a whole lot of time with it before the novelty wears off.

This increase in size compared to the original Joy-Con will be great for people with large hands, but not so much for kids and people with smaller hands. They simply don't feel as comfortable as the original Joy-Con. On the back of the console, there's a kickstand for tabletop mode that can tilt up to 150°.

Well, the good news is the hardware doesn't appear to be the problem, it's definitely a software problem, the bad news is a factory reset may be the only solution. I hope someone knows more than I do but you may be backed into a corner and may have to reset.

The Nintendo Switch feels like a victim of Nintendo's own history. Having set decadesl long expectations that new hardware will always be, if not always, revolutionary, at least deeply strange. The Wii, DS, 3DS, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch each relied on some central gimmick that was new and novel.
