We've tested some amazing TVs this year, the Panasonic Z95B OLED may well be the best of the lot.

The Panasonic Z95B performs significantly better in bright rooms and direct sunlight. Its RGB OLED panel maintains deep blacks even when sunlight hits the screen directly, while the Samsung S90D's QD-OLED technology causes blacks to turn brownish or gray in direct sunlight due to its lack of a polarizing filter.

Speaking of the built-in TV speakers, the Technics system can sound shockingly good. You can do more to adjust the sound of this television than any TV I've seen. With the right adjustments, it's possible to achieve soundbar levels of intelligibility and spaciousness. Just don't expect Sonos or Samsung level bass.

The Panasonic Z95B is ideal if you're looking to get a smart TV that has it all. It's the most expensive smart TVs on this list, so it's definitely not a set for everyone, but I think it delivers exceptional performance for the price.

Panasonic has really put a lot of effort into the Z95B. This time, in terms of hardware specs, they’ve delivered the real deal. First, of course, is the core of the picture quality. Remember the iPad Pro I mentioned earlier? It uses Tandem OLED, right? Well, the panel in the Panasonic Z95B works on the same principle. Officially, it’s called Primary RGB Tandem technology.

Hey, I'm Evan from ratings.com and after putting the Z95B through the full test suite, the answer is a confident yes with a few caveats that matter to power users and gamers. If you care about HDR brightness, the Z95B will put a smile on your face. In filmmaker mode, a 10% HDR window reaches 2354 nits, and a 2% window comes in at around 233 nits.

The Z95B will handle most daylight conditions with ease, and one can comfortably watch TV or movies even when plenty of light is coming into the room.

Once again, I was incredibly impressed with the brightness boost from HDR content that was being shown next to last year's Z95A, and there really was quite a contrast. Yes, it was a Panasonic demo and the camera that I used here was a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 which has a restricted dynamic range.

The Z95B adheres to the metadata, i.e., this specification, and therefore initially appears darker than the competition in direct comparison, but is closer to the reference because it does not display the images too brightly. Films produced with up to 4000 nits, such as the latest Harry Potter film in 4K HDR, are intended to appear as bright and detailed as possible on the screen.

And for the most part, I'm going to leave out sound as well because it's no doubt about it, the Panasonic Z95B is just way better than the rest of the TVs in terms of in-built sound. The Z95B has a better sound (but I have a 7.1 setup anyway) and it has the fancy new tandem OLED panel. The Z90B has a 'Master OLED Pro' panel - whatever that means and a lower sound system than the Z95B but still better than average TV speakers. My LG suffered from burn-in after nine years but I hear that the new OLED panels are far less susceptible to this now.

But what about the image quality? Can the Z95B truly live up to its reputation ? and deliver by far the best image on the market. Is it the brightest and most accurate OLED TV of 2025? Or is the discrepancy between the Set95B and the G5 from AG not so great after all? Because, purely from a data sheet perspective, the two TVs are almost identical.

Once done, the Z95B's image quality is absolutely fantastic. With a Delta E of just 1.36 and 99.9% coverage of the UHDA-P3 space, colors are represented beautifully and look real. Beyond that, there are ample details in the shadows, and textures remain solid overall. You also don't have to worry about motion smoothing, as it's turned off by default.

However, using Dolby Vision on the Panasonic has not been a great experience overall compared to HDR10. Now, what was the problem with Dolby Vision? Well, I saw more image artifacts within the picture with Dolby Vision than I did with the regular HDR10 format. And this was especially the case in lower light scenes.

But if you have high demands for sound, then the included sound system becomes its Achilles’ heel. You’re paying more for those speakers: the LG OLED G5 is fractionally cheaper than this Panasonic, while offering the same type of panel for great OLED brightness – and that could be a problem for Panasonic.

Game mode is not perfect, but it's not bad. It does have uh a little bit of issues with the banding and posterization like we see with LG OLED TVs. So, that's not immune to that totally, but it's not terrible. And we get pretty good color brightness from the TV, though not as good as QD OLED.

I keep thinking, even as I'm impressed by the a95L, that I might like the more softer naturalistic approach of a z95b better. and the z95b has the better sound system that I could possibly just stick with for my partner's simplicity sake, and save my 2.1 separately for my music.

This discrepancy may also help explain why fire elements in Gemini Men and even the flaming guitar scene in MattMax Fury Road appeared somewhat muted on the Panasonic Z95B despite its fourstack OLED panel closing the gap to QD OLED in terms of color volume. For context, MedMax Fury Road has a max MDL of 4,000 nits while its max CRL exceeds 9,000 nits.

Picture wise I just love the Panasonic processing and would always choose the Z95B over the G5. If you're able to wait for prices to drop or have the funds, I would suggest going for the G6 or the successor of the Z95B.

Where the Z95B isn’t perfect—smart UI annoyances, thicker chassis, and limited HDMI 2.1 port count—those are mostly trade-offs to achieve the device’s core strengths.

Filmmaker Mode is usually my go to but, surprisingly, there’s significant judder (stuttering) in that mode. Home Cinema is brighter but judder is also an issue.

I can't vouch for the reliability, and since it was a very expensive TV I'm hoping it will be reliable for me over the long term, as my LG was before it.

But first, let's talk about OLED TVs on the market that are using the new fourstack OLED panel, also known as primary RGB tandem OLED panel from LG Display, namely the LG G5, the Philips 950, and this Panasonic Z95B I have behind me here. But I believe that it is the Panasonic that will gain the most from this boost in brightness and color gamut afforded by the primary RGB tandem OLED panel.
