Even though the Switch Lite might not be the best model, I really do enjoy its cozy vibe.

We can all agree that the Nintendo Switch Lite is the greatest gaming console of all time, so much so that five years ago, I attempted to build the Ultimate Switch Lite, and I was somewhat unsuccessful. Nowadays, you can load up an OLED display in your Switch Lite, a screen that's better than what you get on a Switch 2.

I mean if it works with no issues, that’s a STEAL.

I've also been playing a lot of Pokémon LeafGreen and FireRed, and I thought it'd be kind of nice to be able to play those on the go with something smaller. The Switch Lite released in 2019, 2 years after the original Switch. The hardware is nearly identical to the standard and OLED Switch, with the same SOC, memory, and storage.

I held off for a long time before buying the Nintendo Switch Lite because I already have the Nintendo Switch 2 here at home and it kind of already runs, you know, all the games that are on the Switch Lite. I figured there was no point in buying the Switch Lite since I already have the Switch 2.

In 2026, where everything is getting bigger and bulkier, the Switch Lite is a breath of fresh air. It feels like a true handheld. Unli sting and pops. The matte finish is a huge win compared to the glossy fingerprint magnet of the OLED version.

You should definitely buy the Switch Lite. - You absolutely should not buy a Switch Lite. - They said it wasn't humanly possible. All the power and excitement of Nintendo, right in the palm of your hand. Only from Nintendo. Now you're playing with power, portable power. - Obviously one of the biggest selling points of the Switch Lite is its namesake, Lite.

So if you were to get stick drift, then that's unfortunate. You've got your speakers down here. You've got two speakers. There's one there, and there's one there, which sound quite pretty good, in my opinion. You've got your microSD slot there. So unlike under the kickstand on the regular Switches, it is just here. It's just a little flap.

This bad boy is the perfect travel companion, but does have a few shortcomings compared to the original and the OLED. Mainly the lack of Joy-Cons, the no HD rumble, and the non-docability, if that's a word. Also, the screen is a wee bit smaller than the forementioned versions, which can make it difficult to play games that tend to have smaller visual details.
