Klevv Cras XR5 RGB 32GB DDR5-6000

Ranked #12 in RAM
236 LP on the category ladder what's LP?

Easy to run at its rated speed and a willing overclocker, but its CL40 profile is conservative for a 6000MT/s kit, Klevv now sells a tighter CL32 version, and GamesRadar+ says the newer Cras V has replaced it.

Flagged as a product to avoid

2 of 6 research runs entered this as a product to avoid rather than a pick.

Inconsistent performance and higher latency than other DDR5-6000 kits, making it a sub-par choice.

About this product

This page covers the Klevv Cras XR5 RGB KD5AGUA80-60E400S, a 32GB DDR5 desktop memory kit made of two 16GB sticks with white aluminum heat spreaders and a circular RGB light bar. It boots at 4800MT/s and reaches its rated 6000MT/s at 40-40-40-76 and 1.3V once you enable its memory profile in the BIOS.

Klevv sells more than one 32GB DDR5-6000 kit under the Cras XR5 RGB name. This is the original CL40 version. The KD5AGUA80-60A320S runs the same speed at 32-38-38-78 and 1.35V, so check the part number before you buy. Klevv's spec page lists Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO support for the series, but PCM found a single XMP 3.0 profile on its sample of this kit.

Hong Kong outlet PCM tested this exact part number, and GamesRadar+ tested a white 32GB DDR5-6000 kit of the same name. Tech-Critter tested the DDR5-6200 version, KD5AGUA80-62E400S, which like this kit uses SK Hynix M-die chips.

Specifications

Pros & cons

  • ✓ Reaches its rated DDR5-6000 with one BIOS setting and no manual tuning
  • ✓ PCM pushed it to DDR5-6800 without loosening the stock timings or raising the voltage
  • ✓ GamesRadar+ called its RGB lighting stunning once installed
  • ✓ Lighting syncs with Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and ASRock motherboard software
  • ✓ Limited lifetime warranty
  • ✗ Its 40-40-40-76 profile is conservative for DDR5-6000, and Klevv sells a CL32 version of the same kit
  • ✗ Only one memory profile to choose from, a drawback GamesRadar+ noted
  • ✗ An older design that GamesRadar+ says has been replaced by the Cras V and is getting harder to find
  • ✗ Uses SK Hynix M-die chips, which Tech-Critter says need manual tuning to perform their best
  • ✗ Klevv advises against mixing it with modules from another kit

Frequently asked questions

It ranks #12 of 15 on our RAM tier list, in D tier. That placement draws on 2 independent outlets.

Klevv's spec page lists both Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO support for the Cras XR5 RGB series. PCM found a single XMP 3.0 profile on its KD5AGUA80-60E400S sample, while GamesRadar+ reported a profile for each platform. Tech-Critter found that an early XMP-only DDR5-6200 version still ran its profile fine on an AMD X670E board.

Yes, one. Klevv says the memory runs at its default 4800MT/s until the XMP or EXPO profile is enabled. With the profile on, PCM and GamesRadar+ both ran it at 6000 without any further tuning.

Klevv lists the module at 137.4 by 42.5 by 8.3 mm. The 137.4mm figure is the length along the slot and 8.3mm is the thickness, so the module stands about 42.5mm tall. Compare that with the memory clearance your cooler's maker lists.

Often, yes. PCM ran this exact kit at DDR5-6800 on an Intel Z790 board without changing its timings or voltage. Tech-Critter took the DDR5-6200 version to DDR5-7200 on Intel with much higher voltage, but found less headroom on AMD. Klevv notes that achievable speed depends on the motherboard and CPU.

Klevv advises against it. It asks buyers to always use the memory kit as a pair and to avoid mixing in modules from another kit. If you think you will need 64GB, Klevv also sells a 64GB version of the Cras XR5 RGB at 6000MT/s.
