If budget is the main constraint, the Kisnt KN85 delivers a gasket-mounted, hot-swappable, tri-mode keyboard with double-shot PBT keycaps at a price that shouldn’t be possible for what you get. Buy it, use it, and decide later whether you want to upgrade.

I always recommend the Kisnt KN85 as the best starter mechanical keyboard because the sound and typing experience is so excellent, and you can get it for under $40 in the US. But it is not silent, and it doesn't come with VIA software .

the kn85 is hot swap, gasket mount, pbt keycaps, tri mode, quietly everything a first board should be. today the matching number pad gets the same @YUNZII KEYBOARD keycaps my first keyboard wears.
