If you're not planning on any like.low-latency gaming, the mechanical switches will be great. Better than the HE, likely. Also, the special sauce for that 500+ hour battery life or whatever it is is the ZMK firmware. ZMK is built as a wireless-first firmware, so it's ridiculously efficient. Some brands claim to get like months of use on a single charge of a 200 mAh battery lol.

Now I have the keychron k3 and I really like it. I can enjoy the sound and the feeling of typing in a mechanical keyboard and at the same time do not need to stand for the high keycaps in a typical mechanical keyboard. K3 feels pretty much the same as my apple keyboard but with a mechanical keyboard feeling and sound and of course a slightly higher profile.

I really like the K3. I don't like flat membrane or scissor style laptop type keyboards like the Apple keyboards, but I definitely don't like full height mechanical keyboards either because whilst they have a satisfying typing action, the higher actuation force and travel distance just becomes tiring over time with alot of typing.

While there were no missed inputs, there were some double inputs at a 0.2 mm actuation distance and 0.1 mm Rapid Trigger sensitivity. Increasing the actuation distance and Rapid Trigger sensitivity to 0.3 mm resolved this completely, so this seems to be a result of the key bouncing back down slightly when topping out.

I think you should get the optical blue or orange. The red switches will not get broken in. BTW I am quite disappointed with the plastic bottom build quality of the K3. The K3 also has a smaller battery 1550mAh compared to the 2000mAh of the K1 which further accounts for the lightness.

It's been basically unusable due to this. It may not necessarily be a connectivity issue, and more like the keyboard just stops working completely as I can't even adjust the lights. I really like the keyboard otherwise, thought I found a keeper, but will most likely have to return it.
