The Keychron K3 Ultra arrived just in time for me to play Resident Evil 9: Requiem , which seemed like the perfect game to test this keyboard with. Resident Evil games aren’t the most fast-paced, but when playing as Leon, you do need to be quick — especially when parrying and swapping weapons. In addition, I didn’t need a full-size keyboard with a numberpad for the survival horror RPG, so why not use the Keychron? And, as expected, the K3 Ultra performed perfectly — I didn’t experience any switch chatter (double clicking) or latency issues.Read C
The K3 Pro ships with keycaps for both operating systems and a physical toggle switch for Mac/Windows mode. On macOS, function keys match Apple keyboard behavior natively. Through QMK, separate keymaps can be maintained for each operating system.Read

There are two versions of the K3: The typing-focused Ultra, and the gaming-focused HE. The Ultra uses standard low-profile mechanical switches, with options for either linear Red switches, or tactile Brown or Banana switches. These switches can be swapped out without any soldering thanks to the hot-swap sockets on the PCB. The switches and stabilizers come lubed from the factory, resulting in typing that feels smooth and offers a consistent, rattle-free sound when typing.Read S
Keychron has some new keyboards on the block and both are perfect everyday keyboards for home and they're even small enough to take on the go.Watch T The Aesthetic Edit Sourabh · reviewer · Jun 2026
An Unparalleled Typing Feel: If you are transitioning from a flat laptop keyboard or a basic membrane office keyboard, the Keychron K3 will instantly blow you away. The low-profile mechanical switches are roughly 40% slimmer than conventional switches, meaning you get the delightful, crisp tactile feedback of a mechanical board with a much shorter, faster actuation distance. Your typing speed increases, and fatigue vanishes during long writing sessions.Read C
If you guys are looking for a keyboard that is fantastic for travel or mac users with MacBook pros or IMacs, the Keychron K3 is a perfect low-profile mechanical keyboard!Watch G
The Keychron K3 Ultra wireless keyboard is launching alongside the K3 HE, but while the HE variant focuses more on new Hall Effect switch tech, the K3 Ultra is more focused on a traditional switch approach combined with an up-to-8,000 Hz polling rate. The K3 Ultra is designed for those who might not want the Hall Effect switches, but still desire a solid overall low-profile keyboard experience. Here’s how it fared during my review process.Read T

If you want a low-profile, portable HE keyboard that’s equally happy on a commute or a desk, and you can live with the 1,000 Hz cap and the locked-in switches, the K3 HE is an easy recommendation. If you’re a competitive FPS player chasing maximum polling rate and switch flexibility, a full-height board like the IQUNIX EV63 or another option from our lowest-latency keyboards roundup will serve you better.Read C

Is the Keychron K3 Ultra a better option than any of these three? It depends on priorities. The K3 Ultra, launched alongside the K3 HE, uses a traditional mechanical switch but pushes polling to 8,000Hz and claims up to 550 hours of battery life on ZMK firmware — a different tradeoff aimed at buyers who want raw speed and battery life without paying the Hall-effect premium. It was not included in this three-way comparison because it targets a slightly different buyer than the K3 HE, Air75 V3, and K3 Max.Read C
It's rugged, but you know, it has its moments. Um, it it it just Oh, sometimes when when I put it inside my bag, like I'll put it in my bag and sometimes, you know, something might pop or something. Um, so that's that's something that's happened. And I really liked uh putting these upside down or sideways to remind me that that button has done that.Watch M
The typing feel is simply great, but the compactness also means some getting used to it, as I still miss some keys. What I haven’t tried yet is programming the keyboard via the launcher app. But that doesn’t work with Firefox, for example, but only with browsers like Chrome and Edge.Read T
If you don't mind the unique key shape and can live with slightly inefficient software, the K3 HE is a good pick for those after plenty of analog functionality without spending the earth.Read N
