Even though the K2 HE (9/10, WIRED Recommends) uses a tray-mount system that’s not quite as good as the Q1 HE’s gasket mounting, Keychron has refined its tray mount to feel satisfying and consistent across keys. The bottom-out still feels softer than a traditional mechanical keyboard, but I still enjoyed typing on this keyboard and found it even preferable for longer typing sessions.

That sounds super quiet, soft, really satisfying to type on. Nothing hard or sharp about just really clean, man.

I saw this Keychron K2 HE in person at CES and I have not stopped thinking about it since. A full cherry wood base. Warm, rich tones. And that clean, modern Keychron layout on top… it felt like a luxury desk piece, not just a keyboard. It’s giving quiet luxury workspace. It’s giving soft life but make it tech. It’s giving your desk finally matching your Pinterest board.

So, as you can see from the table lineup that I have right here, I love my Keyron keyboards. Now, I have the full layout with number pad and everything. And then I have some of the slimmer models, you know, more, you know, aesthetic to people's liking. This one probably being my favorite because of the streamline on the keys. But today, we have a new one in.

I am shocked to say that, somehow, the choice to use concrete is beneficial to this keyboard. It sounds great, and it feels responsive to type on. For a novelty-adjacent keyboard like this, one of the most important aspects of it is the user experience. The strange choices need to justify themselves in some kind of way instead of being both ridiculous and useless.

For many users, including gamers, content creators, programmers, and of course editors, this is arguably one of the best layouts available because you don't actually sacrifice important keys while gaining much more mouse sport desk space. The design itself is clean and understated. There are no oversized gamer logos, no flashy shapes, or aggressive styling.

Buy the Keychron K2 if you need wireless freedom and want to switch between multiple devices — it’s the better everyday driver for most people. Choose the Keychron Q2 only if you sit at one desk, crave a dense, gasket-mounted feel, and don’t care about Bluetooth. The K2 wins on flexibility; the Q2 wins on pure typing feel.

As someone who loves the warmth of wood, I just ca n't get enough of this keyboard. So, we'll take a closer look at the main unit later, but let's check the contents first. The contents are all bundled together in a box like this. Inside, first there's a cable, the Type-C side is LG, which is a pretty nice design.

The best wireless Hall effect keyboard is the Keychron K2 HE. We've rated plenty of Keychron keyboards highly over the past few years, as the company burst onto the scene, and especially so for value for money. But the K2 HE has earned our recommendation for both its wireless operation and quality build.

When it comes to actual gaming and typing, the K2 HE doesn't just look good, it performs well, too. I'm more into strategy games and single-player FPS titles, so I might not push the magnetic switches to their limits, but during my gaming sessions, the keyboard felt natural and responsive.

The design looks already beautiful out of the box. I really love the wooden side frame. It comes with brown keycaps for ESC and return keys, but they are plastic, so they felt a bit off. So, I'd like to replace them with my wooden keycaps.

So if you want a super sensitive 0.1 mm press, it's done. But then if you also want to avoid typos with a deeper 3.5 mm accuration, also done. And yes, with this one, you can also assign different actions to different press depths. So think half press for a walk, full press for a run. So for gamers, this is like the chef's kiss territory.

With this in mind, keyboards as versatile and feature-rich as the K2 HE Concrete Edition from bigger manufacturers, such as the SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL Wireless Gen 3 , will command a higher price.

I I genuinely enjoy this. Now, if you didn't know, I rock, well, I used to rock an Ala F75 Pro mechanical keyboard. Easily one of the best budget keyboards on the market that you can get, and it's going to be perfect for you. But the reason why I wanted to go with the magnetic keyboard was specifically for the customization of the switches.

One of the biggest highlights is rapid trigger functionality. This means key presses and releases are registered the moment you move your finger, not at a fixed actuation point. For gaming, especially in fast-paced or competitive titles, this gives you faster response times, smoother movement control, and a noticeable edge.

I'm still rocking the K2 V2 aluminum. It's only been modded with the foam inside the case. Using the original gateron red switches and key caps. Still love them.

With this one, you're getting that same key chron quality at an affordable price, making it one of the best value options out there. As for the accessories, you get this braided USBC cable. It also comes with extra key caps depending on your operating system, so it works perfectly for both Mac and Windows users. It comes set up for Mac out of the box, so I did have to swap a few keys for Windows.

I wanted to love this keyboard but unfortunately I do not, here is why: 1. I have bugs, sometimes I type on it and certain keys won't work, I need to switch modes and back to solve it. 2. It's noisy, if you come from a membrane regular keyboard, this is much more noisy, I prefer quiet. 3.

The first is that this is the thickest keyboard I've ever encountered. I mean, here's a shot compared to my custom Varmilo TKL keyboard and for fun sake, I threw in the Logitech Craft as well. So, yeah, the K2 is one thick boy and that caused some serious strain on my wrists. You see, the chassis on the K2 comes with a flat base with keycaps on top that are slightly angled.

Well, recently, I picked up the latest version of the K2 and was actually quite disappointed by it. It took me a while to figure out what was so off-putting about it. Then I realized the design is just not as competitive anymore. In a market where keyboards are being released weekly, a mechanical keyboard from a few months ago can easily be outdated. Things are changing extremely fast.

And while it's great to be able to switch between my iPad and my Mac with this keyboard, I don't know that I would necessarily want to use it with my iPad because it is a little bit limited. So, I can still use the function row up top, and I can use command shortcuts within applications.

Okay, so I might have found my new favorite keyboard, but hear me out because unfortunately it's not perfect. But I think I remember reading that um unfortunately you can't use like gadon switches or cherry switches. I believe these are only you have to use keyron switches. So if you think about getting this keyboard and switching a few switches out, yeah, you're going to be out of luck for like cherries or gadons. Keep that in mind. But these switches aren't bad.
