The Debut line has been Andrew Jones’s calling card for ELAC since 2015, and the DB63 is the third generation of the 6.5-inch bookshelf model. The 3.0 update is not a minor refresh — Jones redesigned the cabinet, the crossover, the woofer cone material, and the waveguide for the tweeter. The previous DB62 was already a critical darling. The DB63 doesn’t just iterate; it tightens the things people complained about.

For frequency balance across the audio spectrum, at $500 a pair the ELAC Debut 3 DB63's are just downright impressive. The consistency is its reward. I hope more manufacturers would take this approach over boosting the highs to grab immediate sales or increase the boom in the bass. There's something about non-fatiguing, all day sound that while it may not get one salivating, there's so much value in just relaxing and enjoying without becoming distracted or fidgety.

I just bought the Elac Debut 3.0 DB63 two weeks ago and already having too many sets of speakers in my home but wanted to try them out. However, I was blown away by the bass they put out and how big they sound! The sound is clear and wide with a powerful sound. My Elac 3.0 DB 63 put the sound right in the center. Love them a lot. They all right about the big sound.

So, the ELAC DB63 is a speaker I love. It has a treble region that is very refined for just $500 and in my opinion competes with a lot of speakers up to about $1,000.

But the DB63 has more powerful bass. It has bass that it sounds fuller. It's a speaker that sounds larger. The treble region even of the DB63 is a little bit more refined than the DBR62 was. Both uh had a mid-range that was a little bit warm. So, not a huge difference there. But I will say the DB63 rewards you quite a bit more as you turn up the volume. with the DBR63.

I bought a pair of these DB63 speakers in September 2024 after hearing them at the THE Show. I have them in my living room, being driven by a Proton AA-1150 power amplifier (which can deliver up to 400WRMS/ch on dynamic peaks, but 50WRMS/ch normally). My living room is huge- about 40' wide with a cathedral ceiling.

The DB62 has seven parts, the DB63 has seventeen parts & the're of generally higher quality. Interestingly, despite all those parts, the midbass resonance below 1KHz is there in both models (DB62, 750Hz; DB63, 900Hz). Erin's frequency response plots show great similarity too.

Uh, vocals and vocalization, in this case the voice of the soloist and the vocals of the vocalists and choirs that have the back part uh very clear, very very well rendered by the tweeter and by the part of the mid-high frequencies that the woofer gives you , but I think that in this speaker uh what takes the cake is the part of how the low frequencies are tuned, marked low frequencies . Powerful low mids, making listening extremely fun, very well defined low and low mid frequencies , without hindering the clarity of the high and high mid frequencies

Let's talk about one of their first models, the DB63. First off, take a look at the specs. This is 7 and 3/4 inch wide, 13 and 516 high, and 11 and 3/4 in deep, 17lb bookshelf or stand mount speaker are designed to give the listener a sample of how a well-balanced speaker should sound in a showroom. They won't garner immediate attention by most as speakers with a top-end sparkle boost do.

The ELAC DB63 are the most affordable of the group and offer tremendous value for money. The woofer in the DB63 is very nice and exhibits great detail, bass output, and transients. It really is quite impressive what ELAC has been able to accomplish for this price point.

The 349 USD Polk ES20 provides superior measured performance with significantly lower distortion and better bass extension at 22% lower cost, making it the clear choice for audio quality prioritization. Consider the DB63 only if ELAC’s specific aesthetic preferences or brand reputation hold substantial value beyond measured performance metrics.

But they also set my deck amp on fire because they fried my Fuzzy Audio DA220 OC, which has been the center of my HTPC audio setup for a few years. RIP little buddy. So, I wanted to replace this and take things to the next level. Um, for around 500ish for a new integrated amp and I needed a few features.

I ended up taking them back. The Klipsch RP 600mll were on sale for the price of the Elacs so I got them. For me the Klipsch 2 was fatiguing after long listening sessions and had slightly less bass than the Klipsch 1. That has impressive kick drum bass. The Klipsch 2 is an upgrade but only worth it on sale.
