Cuisinart ICE-30BC Pure Indulgence
The gelato specialist's non-compressor recommendation, and a design Cuisinart has sold unchanged for well over a decade. That kind of production continuity is exactly what long-term ownership wants: proven, simple, and still supported.

Ice Cream Science's dedicated review finds the ice cream has detectable icy bits and flags noise, and every major outlet's overall pick in this class is now the ICE-21P1, which does the same freezer-bowl job better. Buyers cross-shop it against the ICE-21 and pay more for a worse-reviewed result.

The non-compressor ice cream maker that I would recommend is the Cuisinart ICE-30BC . This is the first machine that I bought back in 2010 to make ice cream to sell at my first farmers market, and is still going strong after nearly 13 years of use. It has a large 1.89 litre (2 quart) bowl made from aluminium coated with xylan (polypropylene) that has an optimum capacity of 900 ml (0.95 quart) of ice cream mix, producing about 1100ml (1.16 quart) of finished ice cream with about 22% overrun (the air that's whipped into the mix) in about 31 minutes.Read A AmyLearnsToCook AmyLearnsToCook · 313K subscribers · May 2015

Its ice cream was even-textured and creamy, but sorbet had a hint of iciness. With just a straightforward on/off switch, it was a snap to set up and use. The canister, rather than the paddle, spins, so it was easy to use a probe thermometer during churning to check if it was ready.Read C Cutlery and More Cutlery and More · 44.5K subscribers · Jan 2013
