The NexStar 5SE makes a compelling case for being the ideal travel scope for anyone who already knows what they're doing. The 5-inch SCT tube is genuinely compact: you can hold it under one arm while carrying the tripod in the other hand. The whole setup, tube and mount on tripod, fits across the back seat of a compact car.
