It is Good Housekeeping's Best Overall drip coffee maker, SCA compliant, with adjustable temperature, bloom and flow rate and a thermal carafe that avoids hot-plate degradation. It sits in B tier at rank 5 because the warranty is only 1 to 2 years and out-of-warranty repairs can be pricey. If you would rather never think about repairs, the Technivorm Moccamaster KBGV Select is the S tier pick. If you want control plus ongoing software improvement, the Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker is in A tier.

Rinse the thermal carafe and filter basket after every pot, and wash the carafe properly a few times a week since a thermal carafe hides coffee oils that a glass one shows. Descale every one to three months depending on water hardness with a descaling solution followed by two or three plain water cycles. Filtered water slows scale buildup and protects the machine's electronics and valves.
