Once the sound was dialed in, the Liberty 5 Pro earbuds played acoustic guitar with delicate detail and rendered drum and bass thumps with pitch and clarity. The sound does lack the natural sense of acoustic space you’ll find in a quality over-ear set or in earbuds that use planar magnetic drivers. However, considering sets like that cost hundreds more and/or lack the portfolio of features included here, we were happy enough to accept a slightly tighter sound in exchange.

If I had to choose between these three earbuds, I would go Soundcore. Why? Soundcore, in my opinion, has the best fit, the best active noise cancellation, the best call quality. Now that's kind of a toss-up between Soundcore and Apple, the most features, and they get the loudest, have the most bass, and the best overall sound quality. Now I got a bunch of notes.

Okay, well, it's pretty loud at this event, so we might as well test it out here. Noise rejection is a slight step up from the Liberty 5 Pro. Background noise is well suppressed without the slight delay or dampening of the speaker’s voice I noticed on the Pro: calls come through cleanly and naturally, even in busier environments. Wind conditions are similar to the Pro, with wind noise mostly kept at bay, though the speaker takes on a slightly reverberant quality.

The best thing about the Liberty 5 Pro is the price. They sell for £150 while the Liberty 5 Pro Max cost £200. The only differences between the models are in the charging case: the Pro Max has a larger OLED screen and AI meeting transcription abilities, plus more customisation and control from the case. The earbuds are otherwise the same.

Well, after testing them briefly for the last couple of days, I think Soundcore may have created one of the most feature-packed earbuds in the Liberty category. Now, the version I received is actually the blue color and honestly, it looks very fantastic. You can see here, it looks clean, modern and slightly metallic under the lighting. Now, the casing itself feels very compact but premium.

Back to the original question: are the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro good enough to compete with the giants? Honestly, I think so. Soundcore did a great job, they managed almost everything. They look good, are very comfortable, and sound great

And here we have the Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro in a simulated crowd noise environment. So, something like a busy bar, a crowded restaurant, or something along those lines. So, testing testing 1 2 3.

I really love the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro.

If Soundcore can improve the issue through firmware or future revisions, the Liberty 5 Pro becomes much easier for me to recommend without qualification. As they stand now, I still really like them — and I often use them with ANC turned off — but an earbud this good shouldn't have an annoyance like this hanging over the experience
