Today we're taking a look at the first two-bay NAS we've tested since 2022, the unit in question is Ugreen's new NASync DH2300. This is also the second Arm based NAS we've tested this year, although it has a generation newer CPU core than the QNAP TS-432X , with four Cortex-A72 main cores, as well as a four Cortex-A53 cores in the Rockchip RK3576 SoC.Read T
The NASync DH2300 ships in a brown cardboard box and as Ugreen didn't bother putting our review unit in another box, we're not entirely sure about what's on the backside of the box, as it was covered with shipping labels. The NAS itself is held within the box by two foam/cardboard sheets, and there's a separate internal box for accessories.Read

The DH2300 itself has 8GB of LPDDR4X system RAM for the processor and OS, which is generous. The DRAM-less question is more relevant to the SATA drives you install. NAS-rated hard drives do not have the same DRAM cache dependency issues as budget SSDs. If you install DRAM-less budget SATA SSDs in the bays for use as a sustained write target, you may see performance inconsistencies under heavy load. For the typical use case of NAS-rated HDDs, this is not a concern.Read T
The DH2300 is the perfect starter NAS for someone who wants to capture Cloud content and also have local computer backups without breaking the bank. At this price point, it was probably too much to ask for 2.5GbE, but there are inexpensive ways to get that facility.Read G

And the DH2300 is going to be a very good replacement, especially because if you've had a time capsule in the past, these unfortunately aren't going to be supported on current and future versions of Mac OS. In conclusion, both the Synology DS223 and the Ugreen DH2300 have their strengths and weaknesses. If you prioritize a mature software ecosystem and advanced features, the Synology might be the better choice for you. However, if you're looking for a budget-friendly option with decent performance and unique features, the Ugreen DH2300 is an excellent alternative.Watch T Truthify Truthify · 1.9K subscribers · Aug 2026
One of the biggest strengths of the DH2300 is value because it gives you the basic NAS experience at a much lower price while still supporting RAID 0 and RAID 1, making it useful for protecting important files when two drives are installed. The biggest weakness of the DH2300 is its limited hardware because the 4 GB of memory cannot be expanded and its 1 GB Ethernet connection is much slower than the DXP2800.Watch
