In my opinion the AD Timemore C2S is one of the best entry-level hand grinders out there. It is essentially the C2 with the plastic taken out, and it keeps the decent set of 38 mm stainless steel conical burrs that gave the original its reputation. Turning the crank is a smooth and fast affair for medium grinds.

The cups from the grinder are sweet with a bit of blending going on. It’s a good choice for a round medium roast. There’s still some way up to the flagship models, especially for light roasts, but overall the cups are still good enough for many regular coffee drinkers.

I see the C5 as the logical evolution of the C2/C3: It’s more premium-feeling, but it has to be, since the market today is just crazy competitive today. However, while it’s a great allrounder, there are still many other options to consider, if you’re shopping for a grinder around this price point.

I'd say get a new one, like the Timemore C2 at least, because if any old one is over a year old( if it's 1-2 months then fine), the burrs might be dull, which means inconsistent grinds.

But I have tested the Chestnut C2 grinder (as well as their other grinders, the Chestnut C3 and Slim Plus ) every which way, and I cannot find a reason to complain. They simply perform well above other grinders in this price range.
