The Breville Smart Grinder Pro is a fantastic beginner option, perfect for anyone just dipping their toes in prosumer-level espresso. It’s easy to use, affordable, and works equally well for drip coffee machines and espresso – making it less of a commitment if you’re unsure how deep you intend to go down the espresso hole.Read S

The Final Shot: The BCG820XL Smart Grinder Pro definitely wins the top spot for the simple reason that it offers a wider range of grind settings. The pause function during dosing and the lower price tag are a nice bonus.Read S
It's one of the few grinders that will actually kind of work in both a slow brewing range and an espresso range. So, we're going to do some comparisons against the Scala, which is a uh, grinder that's especially used for uh, slower brew grinding. You can use it for a pressurized espresso shot, but it's definitely designed to be more used for drip or pour over or press, something like that.Watch C
Stick with the Smart Grinder Pro if you want a more appliance-like hopper experience, lots of Sage “creature comforts”, and you frequently switch between brew methods with minimal faff.Read W
I'm convinced the Smart Grinder Pro is a gamecher. Programmable precision timed grinding using hardened steel conicle burrs. All at an unheard of price, but that's just the start. Its predecessor, the nonpro model, has been around for a few years, and it was wellreceived for the most part by those in the mid-range of Home Espresso. One limitation though, it only had 25 grind settings.Watch C

Add 2 different portafilter holders for 54 and 58mm portafilters, and you're in business. To round out the product, you can grind by time, and choose between 1 or 2 shots. Removing the bean hopper is a breeze, and adjusting the outer burr collar for a finer grind is easy, too.Watch R

After analyzing hundreds of user experiences and technical data, this combo genuinely delivers café-quality espresso at home—but only if you're willing to embrace the learning curve and maintenance routine. The dual boiler design means you can steam milk while pulling shots, and the PID temperature control maintains ±1°C precision that rivals machines costing twice as much.Read J

I've definitely had my ups and downs with this grinder, but I still recommend it for most scenarios. I am on my THIRD unit now. This thing definitely has some questionable durability, but Breville has been fantastic in getting me my replacements.Watch B
The bellows ritual adds approximately 20-25 seconds to each grind cycle. That is the honest assessment of the workflow tax - it is real, it is consistent, and it is not going away without a full chute modification or the RDT (Ross Droplet Technique) workaround.Read T
The extraction of my espresso shot seems solid, but the flavor comes across as a bit sweet and hollow, without any distinct notes standing out. I'll experiment with the same beans over the next couple of days, using the Smart Grinder to tweak the results.Watch B
The grinder is easy to adjust, though, produces a consistent grind, and allows for direct grinding into both a 54-mm and 58-mm portafilter, so if you’re willing to do some trial and error on the dosing, I think you’ll be happy with this one.Read C
I've always been big fan of the Breville Smart Grinder Pro because for it's price, its a pretty good grinder and if you're getting started in espresso, its almost a must have.Watch E r/espresso u/bingbangbongbin · owner
I think something like SGP Is probably great for the price, but there is trade offs in quality for the budget, the main thing being grind consistency not necessarily grind sizeRead thread C

The Breville Smart Grinder Pro has some grind retention issues (a common issue with most coffee grinders). One of the ways people solve this issue is by having a Bellow to blow out the remaining grounds that are "stuck" in the grinder.Watch F Facebook Jessie Register · owner

I had a Smart Grinder Pro and I'm pretty sure it could be internally set to a finer level, but in the end I didn't find that grinder to be suitable for the better machines I had upgraded to. If that internal adjustment isn't possible or it still doesn't get you to a fine enough setting to get you somewhere closer to a reasonable shot time for 36-38g out, think about budgeting for a better grinder.Read thread C
