Speed Queen TR7
Good Housekeeping's and The Spruce's top-loader pick with the same legendary build. It ranks below the TC5 because you pay extra for the TR7's trim level without gaining longevity.

Trades entirely on Speed Queen's durability reputation while the expert coverage points to the FF7 and TC5 as the models that actually earn it; the Automatic Washer expert thread names the front-loader as the hands-down pick, leaving the TR7's wash approach the weak link. Durable, but you give up wash performance for a badge.

Purchasing the Speed Queen TR7 was the best decision I have made. So far it is delivering everything I could want. It cleans the clothes beautifully, it is efficient, it uses less water and holds just as much clothes, it is easy to use, it is super quiet to the point that I at times have gone back to see that I pressed the start button. It no longer takes me all day to do laundry. This has been the best decision I have made and once I am in need of a new dryer it will most definitely be the DR7 to match in quality.Read F

25 years is a reasonable expectation with regular maintenance. We routinely service Speed Queens from the late 1990s and early 2000s that are still going strong. The cast-iron transmission, stainless steel tub, and commercial-grade motor are the durability backbone. Wear parts (belts, lid switches, timers) get replaced along the way — that's what we do, not whole-machine replacement.Read H

This machine is a beast. It does not care about being whisper quiet or winning awards for water conservation. It cares about getting your clothes clean and surviving for decades. When you lift that lid, you see a real agitator. It is there to physically move your clothes through the water. It uses a significant amount of water because water is what carries the dirt away. You have to be okay with that trade-off. If you want a machine that sips a tiny bit of water and takes 2 hours to wash a load, this is not for you. This machine is fast.Watch F Facebook Premier Kamil · owner

I have the TR7 and while i can tell it’s more gentle compared to a standard agitator, i’ve never had problems with dirty clothes.Read thread A
I like the machine. However, I noticed that it just doesn't clean well. stains, dirt, etc. I figured out how to bypass the lid lock so I can see how it's washing. Is this normal? And no, it's not overloaded. Even if I put four shirts in every everything floats to the top, making it look full. The clothes don't seem to move much. Here are the comments. Victor, looks like inner tub is moving. Stephen, heck, if you like a washer that doesn't clean, well, I've got a shop full of them that'll probably cause you orgasm right away. Okay.Watch
