As much as we like the Sonos Arc Ultra and Marshall Heston 120, the Samsung HW-Q990F is the best soundbar you can buy right now. It sounds absolutely stunning, producing thunderous, deep lows and crisp, detailed highs. Moreover, its multitude of drivers creates an incredibly immersive experience that surpasses the best Dolby Atmos soundbar setups available. While a true 7.x, 9.x, or 11.x home theater system will provide the absolute fullest surround experience, the HW-Q990F comes very close and does so in a simple and compact system that's far more convenient.

It's worth every penny. Easy setup hardware and software. Extremely good overall sound quality. I am happy with the bass(I am not a bass person). The sound details are amazing at times. Great clarity. Me and a few friends sometimes get confused as to if the sound is from the audio or is it from somewhere nearby. E.g. a phone ringing has been confused as someone's phone was actually ringing.

There is one little detail that I find vindicating. The ports. Even though still awkwardly situated on the bottom and off to the side, they're given a little more breathing space. So, you don't have to bend your HDMI cables quite so much. What this means is I should double down on talking about port design. The surrounds look exactly like the Q90C.

Uh, this is pretty impressive in terms of just its overall size. Uh, quite quite uh a bit smaller than other subwoofers I've seen uh with this with this uh style of of sound bar. So, pretty cool. Uh should be able to blend in or hide somewhere, I guess, kind of out of the way and not be an isore.

I updated via USB right the first days of release for the Q990F and it has been totally successful. I do have that issue or bug with the DTS-X mentioned in other post that the rear surround up-firing speakers aren’t working with Adaptive Sound. But that’s about it, I’m not getting any other issues like some had mentioned that their Q990F turn OFF automatically every so often, etc.

So, overall, is the Q990F better than the Q990D? Well, I wouldn't overall say it's better, I'd say it's different. Whether it's better or not depends upon purely on what you're going to use it for. If you want this for music and film, then yes, this is definitely better overall than the D, but only if you really value that extra tightness and control you get from the bass regarding music cuz you are going to lose out on some low-end whack from the subwoofer when it comes to movie time.
