We recommend the Bear over the Saatva only if you're dealing with night sweats and hot flashes and therefore need a proper cooling mattress. The Saatva Classic offers a more responsive and buoyant feel than memory foam mattresses, which tend to contour slowly and retain more heat. Sleepers rest more “on” the Saatva Classic rather than sinking deeply “into” it.

There's definitely a noticeable difference in how well the Saatva Classic supports the body—and the back in particular—compared to other mattresses we've tested. It even offers different firmness levels to accommodate different preferences, body weights, and body types. If you've ever woken up with pain around your hips and shoulders, your mattress may not be giving you enough pressure relief. This can leave you tossing and turning for a more comfortable position, which disturbs your sleep. To judge how well the Saatva Classic distributes body weight and relieves pressure, we used a pressure mat. Just to put it in perspective, we are testing out the Luxury Firm model for this review.
