In our tests, the Bear Elite secured a very high pressure relief score, beaten only by the Saatva Classic, which received a full five marks. That reflects how effectively the Bear's combination of high-density foams and zoned coils (the coils in the middle third of the bed are higher gauge to provide extra support to the lumbar) support and contour to the body to prevent pressure build up.

The Bear Elite is a hybrid with a more responsive feel for combination sleepers and better cooling for hot sleepers. On the other hand, the Nectar Classic is an all-foam mattress with a more slow-moving feel. The Nectar also has a cooling cover built in for a crisper feel than the Bear Elite. Both beds are also good options for couples, as they offer great motion isolation.

The Bear Elite Hybrid is one of the best mattresses we’ve tested to date. The high-performance foams, phase change fabric, and hybrid design create exceptionally good cooling. The low motion transfer, fast response, and moderate levels of sinkage and bounce check all the right boxes as well. Edge support is the only notable area that lacks, even so, it only lacks with sitting edge support. Edge support while lying is solid. Overall, a fantastic hybrid mattress and the best we’ve seen from Bear.

The Bear Elite is the more premium, plush, and substantial mattress. We tested the Medium model and it felt luxurious right away with its soft, pillowy top. It offered strong edge support, and was especially easy to move across. Its main tradeoff was that its responsive surface makes motion transfer more noticeable because it has some bounce.

This mattress has been one of our favorites to recommend for its strong cooling, pressure relief, and price. We originally tested Bearite when it launched in early 2022. In July 2022, Bear Mattress was acquired by 3Z Brands, and in the years between 2022 and 2025, they made a series of minor changes to materials and design. With time, those minor changes added up. So, we thought it was a good idea to retest to see how the current Bear Elite being sold performs.

While the Bear Elite in a medium firm is more suitable for side and back sleepers. I wouldn't sleep on my belly on this one. So far as edge support is concerned, I'm going to hand this one to the Plank here. It is firmer on its sides.
