The battery in the Astra 2 is 100 milliampere hours larger than the first-gen model at 8,300 mAh. RedMagic says the tablet’s 75-watt fast charging will top the battery up in just under an hour. That’s much better than nearly every other tablet of this size, particularly the iPad Mini. And that fast charging speed is helpful because the battery life is solidly average at 11 hours, 17 minutes in our lab tests, with the screen brightness set at 200 nits. That’s about 30 minutes better than the latest iPad Mini, but significantly shorter than the 16 hours and 19 minutes of the 8.8-inch Lenovo Legion Tab, which just came out a few months ago.Read T

As of right now, I've not tested any other small tablet that's better for gaming than the RedMagic Astra. The Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 has last year's specs, an outdated design and only one configuration. If you can find it on sale, it's worth it, but at $549, the Astra is hands-down the better option. The iPad Mini has huge bezels and nowhere near the power of the Astra, plus it's more expensive. And you're stuck in Apple's ecosystem, which has its own set of problems.Read S

Put simply, the RedMagic Astra 2 is just about the fastest Android tablet you can buy, offering sustained, efficient performance and a gorgeous-looking OLED display. Other tablets on this list are fast, but this gaming-focused tablet obliterates the competition; it smashes the aforementioned Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra and the Honor MagicPad 4 in both Geekbench single- and multi-core scores, for instance.Read J
So I trust the pedigree here and I think that matters. So let me show you tablet first because I know the body's not really the story here. It's a 9-in slab. It weighs 360-ish grams. And the first time I picked it up, my hands I kept kind of waiting for it to feel heavier, but that never came. Uh the back is completely flat with no camera bump. What stands out first in daily use is the display. The 9.06-in OLED screen gives you enough space to enjoy videos, browse websites, read documents, check mood boards, or review photos without carrying a full-size laptop. The 2.4K resolution keeps text and images sharp, while the high brightness helps when you use tablet near a window, outside in the shade, or in a bright office. The tablet also supports up to 185 Hz, which is especially interesting from a hardware perspective. When content supports it, scrolling, animations, and fast visual movement can feel smoother and more responsive. The battery is another practical point.Watch G

Right away, the gaming tablet 5 Pro looks every bit like a flagship gaming device. It features a premium metal unibody, comfortable curved edges, a clean full-screen display with an under-display selfie camera, and the biggest eye-catcher, the transparent liquid cooling module visible through the back. Cooling has come a long way. Phones already use passive cooling, fans, and VC chambers. So, why hasn't true liquid cooling become common? The answer is simple. The version we have is called Blade Transparent Silver Wing and it genuinely looks like a device straight out of the year 2049. It features a seamless silver brushed metal body that gives it a premium futuristic appearance. Holding it almost feels like carrying a high-tech weapon. Right in the center is a glossy black logo that's subtle yet eye-catching. The illuminated liquid cooling strip and the visible Snapdragon circuit board beneath the transparent glass panel are easily the most impressive design elements. Who says only gaming PCs deserve transparent ocean view aesthetics? Now tablets can have that futuristic look, too. When you're gaming online with friends, this tablet instantly stands out, making every session feel even more immersive.Watch T
As for the cooling, I have to admit I already thought liquid cooling inside a smartphone was impressive, but seeing it built into a gaming tablet takes things to another level. The extended cooling channel runs directly across the motherboard, passes through the hottest internal components, and even surrounds the illuminated logo area. The RGB lighting can either sync together or be customized separately. You get multiple brightness options, six different color themes, and up to 10 lighting effects that can be matched to different gaming or entertainment scenarios. Combined with the animated floating display effect, the entire setup looks incredibly eye-catching. That floating animation isn't created by any physical movement. It's actually a carefully designed on-screen visual effect.Watch T

Rather than completely redesigning the formula, the Astra 2 refines nearly every aspect of its predecessor with a faster chipset, improved cooling, a higher refresh rate display, dual USB-C ports, and a more ergonomic design. Meanwhile, the original Astra remains an outstanding gaming tablet that still delivers flagship level performance at a potentially lower price, making this comparison more about refinement than revolution. Both tablets feature a premium metal unibody construction with transparent design elements and customizable RGB lighting that gives them a distinct gaming identity. It pushes higher touch sampling rates and integrates advanced input separation to minimize latency, making it ideal for fast-paced gameplay. The Oppo Pad Mini uses a slightly smaller 8.8-in AMOLED display with a 144-Hz refresh rate, but its focus is more balanced between visuals and usability. With a sharper 3:2 aspect ratio, higher pixel density, and strong brightness reaching up to 1,600 nits, it feels more optimized for reading, browsing, and stylus work, rather than raw gaming responsiveness. In short, the Astra 2 prioritizes speed and motion fluidity, while the Pad Mini prioritizes clarity and everyday comfort. Hardware is where the gap becomes most pronounced.Watch K

That makes the new model considerably more expensive than last year’s version, which sold for $549 and up at launch . That’s hardly surprising though – not only is this one of the first Android tablets to feature a liquid cooling system, it also brings display and processor upgrades… and comes at a time when memory and storage prices are through the roof . Most new phones, tablets, and PCs are expected to cost more moving forward.Read K
So, I think the cooling improvements in this tablet are quite effective. Of course, on the other hand, this fancy liquid cooling cycle is expensive. You might as well do what Lenovo did with the Y700 and simply build a proper vapor chamber. That would likely be more effective. Then, one question that Apple users are particularly concerned about is whether there's a difference between 144 frames per second and 120 frames per second. Well, based on my own experience, I don't feel any difference. At least for me, it's not as noticeable as switching from 120 frames per second to 90 frames per second.Watch R r/RedMagic u/xUnico · owner
Works smoothly, no problems at all. This is where the problems start. After the last update 165hz is not consistent. It began after the last update which fixed the issue with the Wi-Fi. The software support is abysmal. I'm pretty sure it only had 3-5 system updates since I had the original Astra on launch and none of them introduced sorely missing features. For an ultra powerful and lightweight mini android tablet, it can't run multiple applications at once like my S25 Ultra can since there's a whitelist for floating apps, and split view only has locked positions. Not to mention, unresizable floating windows of whitelisted apps, poor localization, bad UX. You also can't drag and drop apps from the task switcher to make a floating window or split screen. The experience of anything that isn't just playing one game or running one app is terrible.Read thread A
So, it is kind of expensive, guys. It is kind of expensive. So, the the minimum the base model is 780, 880, 1030. So, that's the price. And this is the first sale and this is the discounted price, which most of us not going to get the discounted price. So, that's the range that we can expect for the global release. After not even six months, however, I left the device charging overnight and woke up to find the internal LED panel cracked. I want to point out that the tablet was protected by a tempered glass screen protector and a rugged case. I’m a very careful and meticulous user, and I’m absolutely sure the damage wasn’t caused by me — I was asleep, after all. The tempered glass is intact, as is the outer display glass; the tablet works perfectly in every other way and has no signs of wear anywhere. There are no marks on the glass where the damage occurred, nor anywhere else on the device. It is, in short, indistinguishable from new.View post R r/RedMagic u/Nice_Party_5293 · owner
