Flagged as a product to avoid

1 of 3 research runs entered this as a product to avoid rather than a pick.

Heavily hyped as a Windows-tablet breakthrough, but as a general-purpose tablet it is expensive for what it does, compromised as a laptop replacement by an uncomfortable keyboard, and not class-leading on graphics; only field photographers needing a color-accurate OLED slate should shortlist it.

The 14" ASUS Lumina Pro OLED touchscreen covers 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut, outputs 10.7 billion colors, and reaches Delta E <1 color accuracy, it's also Pantone® Validated for color-critical work. The 243 PPI panel peaks at up to 1000 nits HDR with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, plus VESA DisplayHDR™ True Black 1000 and Dolby Vision® certification, while a 144Hz variable refresh rate and 0.2ms response time keep motion-heavy work smooth. An anti-reflective coating cuts glare by 65%, and adaptive brightness with a roughly 70% reduction in harmful blue light (TÜV Rheinland certified) eases eye strain through long sessions.

If power, portability, and efficiency are important to you, you'll appreciate this one the most. It's designed to be ultra-slim and light, boasting a thickness of 9.0mm and a weight of just 790 grams, a bit over the weight of three phones. But who in their right mind would carry that many phones? ( If I can set up a clip of someone holding 3 phones, that could be funny ) The laptop’s chassis is made from aerospace-grade aluminium, adding to its durability while maintaining its lightweight form.

ASUS just unveiled the ProArt PZ14 at CES 2026, and it is a fantastic alternative to the Surface Pro for digital artists. ✍️✨ This 2-in-1 comes with a detachable keyboard included in the box, saving you from that extra purchase. Under the hood, it packs a massive 18-core Snapdragon XL2 processor and a stunning 3K OLED display with 144Hz refresh and 1,000 nits of brightness. The real standout? A haptic feedback stylus that vibrates as you draw, mimicking the sensation of pen on paper.

It also checks all the boxes for creators on the move. It’s lightweight at around 0.79 kg, packs up to 32GB RAM and 1TB storage, and includes a fairly large 75Wh battery for a device this thin. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 7, USB4, and stylus support further reinforces that this is meant to be a flexible, all-in-one creative machine rather than just a secondary device.

This is basically a tablet, a Windows tablet that is super light but packs a lot of power. It comes with this back magnetic plate that if you just pop it onto that, you get a laptop stand. But also, that's where your pen goes. It comes with a pen as well. This is the ASUS Pen 3.0.

Downsides: Some software is incompatible with the ARM processor on this model, including third-party anti-virus, cloud apps, and accessories with specialized drivers. There is no memory-card reader, so you'll need to buy an external reader or connect your digital camera directly to this laptop to transfer photos. It lacks any full-sized USB-A ports, so you will need an adapter if you have accessories that require this USB type. At about 6.9 ft length, the power cable is shorter than most others, so you'd need to be mindful of power outlet locations.

Considering the purchase price of $2,500, this is no bargain, but considering the current market situation and the hardware equipment, the price is still okay. If you do not need the highest GPU performance, you get an excellent multimedia convertible with a gorgeous screen. Please see our review for more details on the new ProArt PZ14 .

The ASUS ProArt PZ14 wants to be a tablet rather than a laptop, but is saddled with Windows 11, which while improved still can’t really make the best of it. It combines decent performance in creative apps with a really lovely screen, but is let down by a keyboard that’s not really comfortable for long-term use.

By no means these are bad scores, however, I was expecting more. This could be due to limitations of tablet-based design or maybe the Arm and Windows compatibility (or I should say in-compatibility).
