The Patagonia Black Hole Mini MLC 30L is a new take on a travel backpack with the same qualities that you might remember from the brand’s other Black Hole gear. It utilizes lightweight, durable, and highly water-resistant gear and is modular with other items from Patagonia. We dig gear working together for a common cause, but that doesn’t make it good.

I’m a big fan of the eco-friendly materials and processes behind this pack. From the lack of PFAS in the water-repellent coating to the recycled and bluesign-approved materials and REI Co-op’s certification from The Climate Label, it’s clear that this pack was made with a love of the planet in mind.

I got this one for everyday use. It's a gŕeat bag for commuting but it gets uncomfortable if filled with heavy stuff (groceries). Shoulderstraps are thin and the waiststrap doesn't help much. But i'am still happy with it. No way this is a 30l, i own two 30l backpacks and i can't fit their content in the patagonia.

Again, the Mini version is underbuilt for extended trips abroad but remains an excellent pick for commutes, daily use, and as a secondary bag for travel.

The @Patagonia Black Hole 30L and 45L look nearly identical—but how they open changes everything. The 30L opens vertically, so the pockets face up. You can grab your gear without laying the bag down or risking stuff falling out. The 45L? It opens like a suitcase—so the pockets face sideways.
