Buy the Cosori TurboBlaze instead if you cook one dish at a time and want the best value on our board. If you want the newest version of the same platform with a thermometer, the Ninja Foodi DZ550 is the step up.

Yes. It sits in A tier on our board on years of proven field reliability, and the only thing keeping it out of the top two is the newer Ninja Foodi DZ550. The DZ550 adds a smart thermometer on the same dual-basket platform. If you do not need the probe, the DZ401 gives you the same baskets, sync logic and fans that have already aged well.

Longer than most of the board. Years of field data show the dual baskets, sync logic and fans age well, and Ninja scores well in long-term brand reliability evaluations. As with every basket fryer, the nonstick coating on the baskets and crisper plates wears before anything electrical does, and replacement baskets are widely sold. The Russell Hobbs SatisFry Dual Basket and the Ninja Double Stack, the two other dual-basket designs on our board, do not share this record.

Each basket has its own heater and fan, so you can run two different programmes at two temperatures at once. The sync function staggers the start times so both baskets finish together. The match function copies one basket's settings to the other for a double batch of the same food. Each basket holds about half the 10-quart total.

It is wide rather than tall, because the two baskets sit side by side. Expect it to take roughly the width of two single-basket fryers. Leave a clear gap behind it for the exhaust vent. The Ninja Double Stack stacks its baskets vertically to save width, but on our board that design cooks the lower basket less evenly, so the DZ401 remains the better buy if you can fit it.

Yes, the baskets and crisper plates can go in the dishwasher. Hand washing in warm soapy water extends the life of the nonstick coating. Do not use metal scourers. Wipe the heating element guards and the inside of the body with a damp cloth once the machine is cold.
