HyperX's second iteration of its budget-friendly SoloCast microphone is pretty impressive for its $60 retail price. This USB condenser mic comes housed in a sleek, solid-feeling chassis with a clever built-in stand that can also be mounted on a standard boom arm. It also features a large tap-to-mute button on the top of the mic, as well as a bright red indicator light that tells you when the mic is muted vs. recording.Read S

Final verdict: The HyperX SoloCast proves that you don’t need to spend big money to get quality sound. It’s perfect for gamers, beginner streamers, or anyone who just wants a mic that works well without hassle. While it lacks some professional-level controls, its ease of use and solid performance make it one of the best budget-friendly microphones available.Read B
Now, the microphone itself is mostly made out of plastic, but it doesn't look or even feel cheap and I do think the black matte finish is what's helping that. And it has a rubberized foot on the bottom that's going to help keep the microphone stable and secure when it's on a flat surface and you're using it. And speaking of that tilt functionality built into the built-in stand, you're probably working with about a zero to just shy of a 45 degree angle of tilt. That's going to allow you to point this microphone right towards you, which is especially helpful when you're recording in a bunch of different recording situations and in different environments.Watch T
The SoloCast 2 works with HyperX's Ngenuity Beta software, which gives you a handful of options for adjusting the mic's tone. This is where you can adjust the mic's gain (there's no on-mic gain control, unfortunately), and turn on a handful of software-based improvements, such as high / low pass filters and AI noise reduction.Read V

After spending a good amount of time using it for gaming sessions, calls, and a bit of recording, this mic feels less like “budget compromise” and more like “simple done right.” But yeah, it’s not perfect either. Here’s how it really holds up.Read G
We just connect it and it already works brilliantly. Several useful improvements in its design, operation and quality. HyperX Solocast 2 comes at a recommended retail price for Bulgaria of around 129 BGN and takes its place as a great universal gaming microphone, packed into a small box, printed with various information and features. When unpacking it, we first notice a connection cable housed in a separate module. Below is our microphone, tucked away in a soft envelope, and we finish with warranty booklets and instructions. Unlike its bigger brothers, strewn with backlights, buttons, and rotary wheels, the Solokaast 2 relies on an elegant design with unobtrusive elements.Watch F Facebook matrixtechreviews

For its price, the SoloCast offers fantastic sound clarity, especially for users who need a reliable and affordable mic for content creation. Another major benefit is its plug-and-play functionality. The HyperX SoloCast connects to your PC or laptop via USB, which means there's no need for complicated drivers or additional equipment like an audio interface. Simply plug it into your computer and it's ready to go. It works seamlessly with both Windows and Mac OS and is compatible with most major recording software like OBS, Streamlabs, Audacity, and GarageBand. This user-friendly setup makes it ideal for beginners and experienced content creators alike, as you can start recording or streaming within minutes without the hassle of complicated configurations.Watch P
And even at its list price, it’s a solid option. There are some key inclusions that you may not find in condenser mics in a similar bracket. But given HyperX’s caliber, you can expect the quality to be sufficient for long-term use.Read T

While the SoloCast 2 has a smarter design and adjustable sound settings (unlike the Basics, which has precisely zero software to fiddle with at all), it's difficult to argue with the Amazon mic for less than half the price.Read T
When it comes to sound quality, the SoloCast 2 delivers where it matters most. With 24bit/96 kHz recording, the microphone captures clear, detailed, and natural sounding vocals. Your voice comes through crisp and balanced, making it easier for teammates, viewers, or co-workers to understand you. Whether you're gaming, streaming live, recording voiceovers, or joining video calls, the audio quality is a major upgrade over headset microphones or built-in laptop mics. One of the standout features is the built-in pop filter. This helps reduce harsh possive sounds like P's, B's, and sudden bursts of air that can cause distortion in recordings. It keeps your voice smooth and controlled, especially if you're speaking close to the microphone.Watch F Facebook GamerMatters

The built-in suspension system is a game-changer, providing shock mount benefits while keeping the design streamlined and simple. This microphone is truly an all-in-one solution. You won't need to purchase any additional accessories, as it comes packed with everything you need for an effective setup. The foam pop filter is integrated, and the tiltable stand allows you to adjust the mic's angle easily. Plus, it has built-in threads for 3/8 and 5/8 mounts, making it versatile enough to be used with various microphone arms if you prefer a different positioning. Another impressive feature is its customizable audio filters available through the HyperX Ngenuity software.Watch T TikTok TikTok post

Having tried both, there is certainly a more stable and consistent overall sound, though plosives are more reduced than fully blended out.Read T
With the SoloCast, your audio is clear, but it picks up more background noise since it's a condenser mic. With the AM8, your voice sounds tighter and more controlled, especially in untreated environments. There's also a difference in long-term use. The SoloCast is a fixed setup, while the AM8 gives you an upgrade path into XLR without replacing the mic. So, it comes down to value over time. If you want the easiest setup, the SoloCast works. But for most people, the FIFINE AM8 is the better value mic because the cleaner audio and upgrade flexibility are what you'll actually benefit from long-term.Watch S
The HyperX SoloCast brings high quality sound to a lower price range. Does it strip out too many features, or strike a nice balance?Read T
The downside is that the SoloCast is much less flexible than the AM8 because it is USB only and its condenser capsule can be more sensitive to the surrounding environment. So, if your room is noisy or you want the option to eventually connect the microphone through an audio interface, the AM8 makes much more sense. So, which one should you buy? The FIFINE AM8 is the better overall microphone because it's dynamic capsule, USB, and XLR connectivity, headphone monitoring, gain control, and physical controls make it considerably more flexible.Watch F
Overall, it sounds usable and direct, but not particularly smooth or polished. Looking at broader impressions and user opinions, a clearer pattern appears. Clarity is generally considered acceptable for streaming and voice chat. The overall tone tends to lean slightly bright, which can help intelligibility, but may sound thin on certain voices. Fine texture and subtle nuance are limited compared to studio XLR condensers. Because it's a condenser capsule placed close to your desk, it captures keyboard noise, mouse clicks, and room reflections more easily than a dynamic microphone in a mix, especially with background music for streaming or commentary.Watch
