Yes. Lightness is the reason to choose the Hiplok DX1000 over a heavy U-lock, and reviewers list it among its strengths. A lock you carry beats a stronger lock you leave at home. Mount it to the frame or carry it in a bag.
Treat it like any U-lock. Use a dry PTFE or graphite lubricant in the cylinder every few months, wipe grit from the shackle ends and store it keyway down when the bike is parked outside. Avoid heavy grease, which holds dirt in the mechanism.
