What makes the Fenix 8 stand out from any other watch I’ve tried is the battery life. You can have up to 10 days of battery life, which, for outdoor-lovers, is an absolute game-changer. I used to have to charge my previous smartwatch mid-way on a hike, now I lose track of my Garmin charger because I rarely use it.

After 5 days, I can say I am happy with the upgrade. This is the Pro 51mm DLC titanium. I upgraded from 51mm Titanium Fenix 8. The screen is actually a tad brighter and AOD has a 15 day battery compared to 13 day. However, LTE will drain battery quicker than not having LTE.

Number one, I do love this watch. I I've really I haven't taken this watch off ever since I received it. And I do from time to time need to review other watches, but I'll often wear this watch in addition to another watch just so that I get to keep wearing this watch. But this is by far my favorite Garmin watch that I've ever tested. And it probably should be. Uh it cost $1,100. Number two, there's some really good alternatives at better price points here. Alternatives right from Garmin.

I’d recommend spending the extra money for a Fenix 8 due to the improved buttons. All my previous Garmin watches had failed buttons. The watches kept working, but after a couple of years, one of the buttons would always fail due to salt water.

They're bigger, sure, but they don't click physically like the old ones, they're paired instead with a vibration in the watch body, and the feel of pressing them is a little softer with no real, mechanical tactile feedback. But then, they are equipped to deal with scuba diving, and so a change in mechanism was likely necessary to ensure they can handle deep water. It's also got a sensor guard on the outside, to give those additional atmospheric readers a bit more protection from outside elements and impact on rocks and things like that.

But of course, that means spending even more money on top of an already expensive watch. And the fact you can easily switch out the band is something that goes in the Fenix’s ‘Pro’s column too. Instinct makes it quite difficult to switch to a different style. There’s no quick release mechanism of any kind. Fenix, is also the more impervious to impact and water too. Its glass on top of the display is either Gorilla Glass or Sapphire Crystal, both of which are very scratch and impact resistant. The chemically strengthened glass on the Instinct isn’t terrible here, in fact, I’ve not managed to even slightly scratch it in the few weeks I’ve worn the watch.

Nice watch, but the price maybe a little higher.

When Garmin first released the Fenix 8 lineup, it had all kinds of bugs and issues and things and finally we've kind of reached the mature development stage of this watch that the software is stable. It's not as buggy anymore. And I've been using it. I switched over from the Instinct 3 solar tactical edition. And you if you've seen any of my older videos, you've seen that watch on this channel. I switched over from that to the Fenix lineup. I've been using it every day for a few months now. And I kind of have some thoughts on it after all the hype, after that initial excitement.
