Fractal Design Ridge
The only product here with explicitly negative expert coverage: ineffective CPU cooling per sff.gg, toasty and loud per owners, and too tight for standard 140mm intake fans even per Noctua's own guide. Buy the Fractal Design Terra for SFF.

sff.gg found it not particularly effective at CPU cooling - a limitation of the console layout, not its size - and owners report it gets toasty and loud with non-silent included fans, worse laid horizontally. Even Noctua's own build guide concedes there is not enough room for standard 25mm-thick 140mm intake fans.

The Fractal Design Ridge is the go-to tall-and-thin SFF PC case, with an upright design that sees the graphics card placed in the upper chamber and your motherboard and SFX or SFX-L PSU in the bottom. This arrangement produces a tiny footprint on your desk, while removable ventilated covers on all sides allows for good airflow and easy access for installation. It's also possible to use the Ridge in a horizontal orientation, eg for placing it in a TV bench.Read C Computer Surgeon Computer Surgeon · 9.3K subscribers · Nov 2023
Before we get to the CPU temperatures, let's take a moment to appreciate how clean and stylish Fractal Ridge is? This is currently one of my favorite builds. It is sophisticated, elegant and refined.Watch C
There is something special about the Fractal Design Ridge PC case. I have been a fan of the idea of a gaming PC for my living room for quite some time. I talked about it when I looked at the NZXT H1 case when the Xbox Series X first launched, and I have tested a range of them since then, yet the Fractal Design Ridge still managed to impress me.Read J Johnny McPro Johnny McPro · 7.7K subscribers · Jul 2025
I built this Small Form Factor PC (SFF) using a 5080 FE and a Fractal Ridge. This entire build costs less than a 5090 FE! That was my goal, and I love how it turned out. Watch the video to see the process and hear why I believe this is the best approach for a mini-ITX PC buildWatch T

The Fractal Design Ridge white case delivers a sleek, minimalist look that blends naturally into a living room or office setup while still feeling like a serious gaming chassis. Its compact footprint is thoughtfully engineered to save desk or media center space without sacrificing internal flexibility for modern components. Full removable panels on every side make building, cable routing, and cleaning far easier than most small form factor cases I have used.Watch

The Fractal Design Ridge looks stunning and slim, but its thermal performance means you’ll want to stick lower-power processors.Read S
GPU temps are amazing, but CPU temps are not that good. You should only use up to a Core i7, or a Ryzen 7 CPU in this case. The CPU cooler height is limited to 70mm, which results in less than stellar temps. I would suggest installing two PCI-E power cables into the GPU instead of one like I did here. Overall, this is a good first SFF case to build in. You can even install some RGB fans in it!Watch U
When I first saw the Fractal Design Ridge case a few years ago when it was introduced, I immediately fell in love with its design. It's so smart and efficient, and I love the fully dedicated top cooling section just for the graphics card. But as soon as I installed it, I realized we had a small problem, namely that the CPU cooling was terribleWatch
