For most car campers, the Camp Chef Everest 2X is the clear overall winner — its combination of BTU power, simmer control, wind resistance, and build quality justifies the price premium over cheaper alternatives. Backpackers on a budget should seriously consider the MSR PocketRocket 2 , which gives you everything you need at a low weight and even lower price.

We were consistently impressed with the performance of the Camp Chef Everest 2X . Not only is it powerful, but it also produces fluffy rice and perfectly golden-brown pancakes. Some of this is due to the fact that the burners are wider, and pans sit farther away on higher metal grates. This design allows for better simmer control and heat management.

Uh I'll say a couple things about this though, why it's really cool. mainly it is um designed by a company Camp Chef who specializes in all sorts of grillers um you know um smokers and cooking equipment and so they really know what they're doing. They also make cast iron uh skillets and all sorts of cast iron equipment.

We've had the opportunity to use the Camp Chef Everest 2x on a variety of different camping trips, and have been really impressed with its performance. It's a powerful stove, with two 20,000 BTU burners that can boil water in a matter of minutes. It's also easy to use, with a simple ignition system and easy adjustable heat control knobs.

The Camp Chef Everest had one of the fastest boil times of any camping stove we looked at, in large part due to its high BTU (British Thermal Unit) output and straightforward design. It also nails the details of a great camping stove, with a secure, easy-to-use cooking platform and windscreen.

The Camp Chef Everest 2X blew us away with its exceptional cooking ability. In fact, it was almost as easy to use as our gas range at home. Each of its burners kick out 20,000 BTUs, allowing it to boil water in less than 4 minutes – the fastest stove we tested.

The Camp Chef Everest 2X , has excellent simmer control, while budget stoves like the Coleman Triton tend to struggle. Having a good windscreen will also help keep the flame lit if you’re running the heat on low.

What I love most is the cooking power. Each burner heats up quickly and cooks evenly. So, whether you're making coffee in the morning or grilling hot dogs for dinner, it honestly feels like cooking on a real stove at home. The lid flips up and doubles as a wide screen, which makes a huge difference when cooking outdoors.

40,000 BTUs on a portable stove is insane. We boiled a liter of water in under 90 seconds. That's faster than many home stoves. Each burner puts out 20,000 BTUs independently, so you can simmer on one side and sear on the other simultaneously. We cooked a full breakfast, eggs, bacon, pancakes, in under 15 minutes with zero lag. The matchless ignition is a small but huge feature.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the best camp stove I've ever owned. Uh, it puts out a tremendous amount of heat, but it's very fuel efficient. It's very sturdy, and it's got infinite control over the burner to get the temperature just where I want it. Uh, it's a massive cook area, so you can use fullsize uh utensils and pots and pans. Plenty of room.

It was truly a fantastic propane stove, and if I wasn't so emotionally invested in my classic liquid fuel stoves, I would still have it!
