For retro emulation, most of its Snapdragon horsepower sits idle, and Android Authority's own value pick, the Retroid Pocket 5, delivers the core retro experience for roughly half the outlay. Pay this much only if Android gaming, not retro gaming, is your primary use.

Bottom line, the AYN Odin 2 Portal feels like a small turning point in handhelds, proof that premium does not have to mean pricey. Maybe this is the new normal as mature flagship parts get cheaper, or maybe it is a brief window. Either way, gamers win. You are getting flagship-level performance, a gorgeous OLED, and the full Android ecosystem for less than what many rivals ask for basic setups. That is not just good value, that is a reset on what is possible at this price.Read J Joey's Retro Handhelds Joey's Retro Handhelds · 96K subscribers · Jan 2025

Overall, the Odin 2 Portal has pretty much nailed what I wanted it for. A proper streaming handheld with a big OLED screen. Everything else, the performance headroom, battery life, and overall build quality, just adds to it. It’s why I have no trouble recommending it, especially if streaming and emulation are what you’re primarily looking for. It’s not perfect, but for the way I play, it’s been a really solid fit.Read V VladNerd VladNerd · 15.9K subscribers · Apr 2025
The Iron Odin 2 Portal not only has the power to crush any sort of input latency that would be created from lack of performance, but you end up just losing track of time because things just look and work amazing on it. And I know I'm kind of praising it, but it's really that good of a handheld.Watch H HyperPlay Handhelds HyperPlay Handhelds · 7.7K subscribers · Apr 2026

And what's really cool about the Odin 2 Portal is that you can also stream from things like your Xbox, your PlayStation, or from Steam. For me, I'm usually grabbing the Odin 2 Portal even over the Steam Deck because I enjoy the lightweight experience. It's almost like a mini Steam Deck, but if there could be something that was just a tiny bit bigger and more ergonomic, for example, in the Odin 3 Portal, that would be like my ideal retro handheld. So, for all of these factors, I think this is a great device.Watch C ChemicalBurrito ChemicalBurrito · 1K subscribers · Jul 2025

In my final thoughts, I'd say that the Odin 2 Portal is indeed the king of handhelds. It's not perfect as it has this problems with the controls, but the system overall is very, very polished, and I believe that it will still be relevant even after the release of the Odin 3 because currently we don't have the correct drivers for the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which means that even with a better processor, you won't have the best compatibility as the Odin 2 has.Watch P P'Nick's Handhelds P'Nick's Handhelds · 17K subscribers · Nov 2025
Does the AYn Odin 2 portal still hold up six months later or has it become yesterday's news? And the honest answer is that it's complicated. The device itself hasn't gotten worse. That OLED panel is still gorgeous. The build quality is still premium and the specs are still powerful. If I had never used anything else and you handed this to me today for the first time, I'd probably be blown away. But that's not how the tech world works. The Odin 2 portal isn't competing against itself from six months ago. It's competing against everything that's launched since then and will be launching soon. The AYn Thor offers better, i.e. quieter controls and more versatility for less money.Watch
