I recently reviewed the ASUS RT-BE92U and was impressed with how fast it is on the 2.4 GHz wireless band due to its 3x3 MU-MIMO wireless transfers on this frequency band. Most wireless routers offer 2x2 MU-MIMO transfers, and the additional data stream provided by the ASUS RT-BE92U translates into better throughput and faster download speeds than the ones offered by many other wireless routers.Read J
This one is actually built for gaming, streaming, and smart home setups. This is definitely a future-proof Wi-Fi router. It's Wi-Fi 7, of course. And now for the configuration. Setup is very straightforward. If you have used ASUS routers before, the interface will feel very similar. You can configure everything through the mobile app or browser, and the process is smooth and user-friendly.Watch T
So when ASUS offered to send over their new RT-BE92U WiFi 7 router for review, it felt like a perfect opportunity to show what a higher-tier router can actually offer—and why upgrading your router in general is probably long overdue. The jump from my five-year-old WiFi 6 router genuinely blew my mind and made me a little ashamed that I waited this long to upgrade.Read 9
It's truly impressive how it handles heavy loads without breaking a sweat. One of the standout features is multi-link operation, or MLO. This isn't just a fancy acronym. It allows the router to link to multiple bands simultaneously. The practical benefit: more stable internet connections and incredibly efficient data transfers, even in congested environments.Watch R
Is the RT-BE92U suitable for online gaming? Yes, this router provides fast, low-latency, and stable connections, making it a great choice for online gaming.Read M
This thing taps into the brand new 320 MHz channels in the 6 GHz band, which is like opening up a superhighway for your data, letting it fly without all the usual traffic jams. And with 4096 QAM, it's packing more data into each signal, making everything feel snappier and more responsive. What stands out, though, is multi-link operation.Watch W
After a simple setup and a trouble-free week of speedy, stable internet across the 2.4-, 5-, and 6-GHz bands, I can recommend this router.Read B

Overall, the ASUS RT-BE92U is worth considering if you want a future-ready Wi-Fi 7 router with excellent wireless speeds, multi-gigabit wired connectivity, and extensive configuration options. It is not the best choice for someone who only needs basic internet access or wants a small simple router, but for demanding home networks, it offers excellent performance and strong overall value.Watch O
The Asus RT-BE92U is one of the best mid-to-high-end Wi-Fi 7 routers for users who want blazing-fast wireless speeds without paying flagship prices. It combines tri-band Wi-Fi 7, a 10 gigabit WAN port, four 2.5 gigabit LAN ports, AiMesh support, and powerful security features into a package that's ideal for gaming, 4K and 8K streaming, smart homes, and multi-device households.Watch B
This makes it an excellent choice for expanding coverage without buying a whole new system. Subscription-free network security is a huge plus. ASUS's AiProtection Pro includes real-time threat detection and parental controls powered by Trend Micro with no ongoing fees. I ran a vulnerability scan and it caught a few potential risks from my IoT devices, which is reassuring.Watch

Compared to the RT-BE92U, aside from the totally different design, the RT-BE90U doesn’t have a 10Gbps port. Additionally, it has lower processing power and less bandwidth on the 2.4 GHz band, which in practice makes little difference, since no client supports the former’s three-stream (3×3) specification on this band.Read N
The RT-BE92U configuration is particularly well-suited for those who want to speed up not only their wireless but also their wired LAN. With a 10G WAN and four 2.5G LAN ports, it makes it easier to rethink your home network over the next few years.Read A r/ASUS u/sunrisebreeze · owner
UPDATE 12/21/25: Merlin doesn't seem to help the router work better for everybody. Worth a try but may not be helpful.Read thread

I only had issues with the BE92U router. Once I copied the settings file to a BE96U, everything was rock solid with eight SSIDs and 70+ Wi-Fi devices. Even with MLO in use, it has been solid now for five weeks. While the BE92U units I had were nothing but a PITA, and nowhere near reliable.Read S
I will be returning my four BE92U units and plan to setup two RT-BE96U units this weekend. So, hopefully, those work out better than the BE92U units did for me.Read
