Easily beating the competition in terms of storage space, the Western Digital My Book is one of the best external hard drives for those looking to back up a mountain of data — it will even perform automatically. It isn't exactly portable, but this drive's connectivity and compatibility are among the best. Prices are insane right now, that's probably the best you will find for awhile. I just sold 7 shucked 8TB WD Easystore drives that are 6 years old (52k hours on them). I had 8, 1 crashed a month ago. I paid between $120 and $150 each for them 6 years ago and sold them for $100 each. They sold 10 hours after listing on Marketplace. Just listed 12 6TB Seagate Exos drives, I hope they sell as quickly.Read thread T

One of the biggest advantages of the WD My Book is its simple setup. It is designed to work with both Windows and Mac computers, so you can connect it, start transferring files, and use it for backups without complicated installation. Its desktop design is better suited for staying in one place rather than carrying it around like a portable drive. For backup, the included Acronis True Image for Western Digital software can help schedule automatic backups of important files. It can also back up more of your computer system and includes features designed to help protect data from ransomware. This makes the drive more useful than simply using it as extra storage.
