We would have no hesitation taking it out for a full gas race or ride with lots of climbing in warm weather. To us, this is the clear reason to choose the Specialized S-Works Evade 3. It isn’t the lightest, but it will provide a boost in cooling during the most grueling races and club rides compared to many aero models.Read O outdoorbros outdoorbros · 29K subscribers · Jul 2022
The new Specialized S-Works Evade 3 is one of the best road bike helmets of 2022 and sure to be a classic moving forward. It's comfortable, fast, cool and, while its looks might be polarizing, I think it looks great for road bike, gravel bike and maybe mountain biking (if you feel so inclined).Watch C
The Evade 3 helmet scored an impressive 4.5-star rating in our testing, and with its great ventilation, safety rating, and all-day comfort, it's not just an aero helmet option, but one of the best road bike helmets for all-around riding.Read C Cycling unboxed Cycling unboxed · 14.2K subscribers · Mar 2025

That matters because the Evade 3 (while really fast) could feel pretty cramped around the temples for certain riders. Our Editor-in-Chief Zach had a very hard time getting the Evade 3 to work for his head shape, as did many other riders.Read A Adventures and RVing Adventures and RVing · 1.4K subscribers · Apr 2024
The helmet itself may be cooler, but my face and the sides of my head, because it doesn't sit as low as this does. This one sits right on top of my sunglasses. This one sits about an inch above my sunglasses, maybe 3/4 of an inch to 5/8 of an inch above my sunglasses.Watch V
It all makes for a better fit and, combined with the cooling changes, these refinements take a fast helmet with minor quirks and turn it into the absolute best all-around option.Read

Hoje tenho um Evade 3. Durante 4,5 anos usei o primeiro modelo e gostava bastante dele. Só o substituí porque sofri uma queda no MTB e, infelizmente, ele acabou rachando internamente. Também tenho um Abus GameChanger e, entre o Evade e o Abus, sinceramente não percebo diferença em termos de aerodinâmica.Read thread S Shane Miller - GPLama Shane Miller - GPLama · 217K subscribers · Jun 2023

Going back and forth between the Evade 3 and the 4, I did not find a huge difference there. The new helmet may be a bit rounder, but neither fit felt dramatically different on my head.Read A Alex Vesga Bike Alex Vesga Bike · 712 subscribers · May 2026

Frequently asked questions
It ranks #2 (A tier) on our consolidated bike helmets board, drawn from 19 cited sources across 18 outlets.
Road riders and racers who want an aero helmet without giving up protection. It sits at number two in A tier on our bike helmets board, with reviewers noting excellent aerodynamics, a lightweight shell and strong impact protection, and an engineering analysis citing it as an example of modern helmet design. If you care more about ventilation than aero, the Trek Velocis MIPS is the top pick. If you want an all-round road helmet without the aero shape, the Giro Synthe MIPS is the other A tier option. Trail riders should look at the Bell Super 2 instead.
Yes. Excellent aerodynamics is one of its strongest findings in our research, which is why it suits racing, time trials and fast group rides. Aero road helmets trade some open venting for a smoother shell, so expect it to feel warmer than a fully vented helmet on slow climbs.
Our research records strong impact protection and modern EPS foam usage, and an engineering analysis held it up as an example of contemporary safety design. Like every helmet on our board it carries a cycling safety certification. Replace it after any crash that hits the head, because EPS foam protects once.
Aero helmets have fewer and smaller vents than open road helmets, so the Specialized Evade 3 will run warmer at low speed than a vented design such as the Trek Velocis MIPS. At speed the airflow through the channels keeps most riders comfortable. If you mostly climb slowly in heat, pick the vented helmet.
Measure your head circumference just above the ears and choose the size whose range covers it. The helmet should sit level, a finger width above the eyebrows, with no rocking before the strap is fastened. Snug the rear dial and set the straps in a V under each ear with one finger of slack at the chin. Aero shells reward a close fit because a gap at the front disturbs the airflow.
