PIC Flex is easiest for beginners and casual cooks because it is simpler, smaller, and intentionally designed to work well even when power is limited. In practice, beginner-friendly means low friction. Flex is easier to place, easier to store, and less intimidating if you are just starting with induction cooking. NuWave highlights adjustable wattage, easy cleanup, portability, and a broad set of cooking functions from warming to roasting, all in a lighter 5.7-pound unit. That makes Flex a strong first induction cooktop for users who want to learn the method without overcommitting.

Unbeatable Convenience: The PIC Flex offers precise temperature control with the simple press of a button. With an expansive temperature range, adjustable in 10-degree increments, the 1,300-watt PIC Flex can cook as low as 100 degrees Fahrenheit and as high as 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The PIC Flex even has three different wattage settings, so you can cook at 600, 900, or the full 1,300 watts. So even if you're on a boat, in an RV, or simply want to cook without overloading your outlet, the PIC Flex can accommodate your needs.

The Duxtop was a decent option, but our favorite induction stove is the Nuwave PIC Flex Induction Cooktop , which boiled faster in our testing, offers excellent wind resistance, and feels a bit more refined for those building out a dedicated camp kitchen with reliable power. If you need more traditional camp versatility, the ODSD 2 Burner is a better fit for cooking in places where power is limited or unavailable. It offers two burners, packs down small, and gives you more flexibility for larger meals or multi-pan cooking without needing a battery or shore power.

This is the NuWave Flex Precision Induction Cooktop, a compact 1300 W induction cooker that's perfect for apartments, RVs, dorm rooms, camping, and even as an extra burner in your kitchen. The biggest highlight is its 45 precise temperature settings. If you have the power setup to support it, the PIC Flex is one of the most capable and precise camp cooking options we've tested. It excels in boil time and simmer control, offering a level of consistency that's hard to match with traditional fuel stoves. For van lifers, car campers with solar or power stations, or anyone building out a camp kitchen trailer, it brings a home-kitchen feel to outdoor cooking with minimal hassle.

The Nuwave Flex is my go-to recommendation for small kitchens, dorm rooms, and RVs. At just 2 inches tall and weighing less than 6 pounds, it tucks away in cabinets and drawers.
