There are a zillion car battery jump starters on the market, but NOCO has remained one of our favorites because the brand hits a great sweet spot between high-performance and high-value. You get a lot of functionality and solid build quality for the money. And with Amazon Prime Day going right now, you can score a good discount on some of NOCO’s best-selling roadside rescue tools .Read P
That's actually pretty impressive and more than adequate to start most vehicles that have a partially drained battery. The Audew started off at 100%.Watch C
If the Gooloo isn’t on sale, or if you need to prioritize portability with as small a jump starter as possible while still retaining reliable performance, the Noco Boost Plus GB40 Jump Starter is your best bet. While its output might seem paltry compared to some of the other models I tested, this is the industry’s go-to for a reason.Read A
And we're pretty happy with that one. It looks looks really really well built. Okay, you can see you can see how powerful this one is even compared to the big heavy uh you know power packs. Okay, so that's what it looks like. It feels really really well built. It's a uh even like moisture moisture resistant, I think. So, it's pretty cool.Watch C

This is by far one of the most popular jump starters on the marketWatch S
Data suggests this is overwhelmingly one of the best major jump starter brands on the market, earning it the top spot in SlashGear's rankings. Noco's jump starters are well reviewed, and are best sellers at nearly every retailer that carries it.Read P
They have saved us many times. You never know when your battery is going to go out and you're going to need to jump start your vehicle possibly many times before you get your new battery at least once. So, this is a case. I'll put links to the GB40 and the case in the video description. So, this is a case. It's very compact.Watch P
It features a patented safety technology that provides spark-proof connections and reverse polarity protection, making it safe and easy to use. The battery booster doubles as a portable power source for recharging smartphones, tablets and more.Read F
Uh now, this particular unit, the GB40, did come with a hard case. And, um it's pretty decent case, to be honest with you. You just got to remember to keep it charged up. Comes with a little charging cable. And, you know, that's about all I could say about the GB40. But, let's uh move on after I show you the case. There's where the the cables go. Zippers on both sides.Watch T
We're big fans of the NOCO Boost Plus GB40 rugged build quality. Its water and dust-resistant enclosure has an IP65 rating, and the over-molded casing evokes confidence when we tucked it under a seat with other tools.Read T
It's spark-proof technology ensures safety during use, making it foolproof. If you have a smaller vehicle or prioritize portability and safety, this is an excellent choice for peace of mind on the road. What people say. This is a great little jump starter. It is very compact and lightweight, making it easy to store in a glove box or backpack.Watch W
The GB40 was definitely not sold as being able to start this large engine, but it still did it. No issues at all starting 1.6l NA and 2.0l turbo engines with 0v battery.Watch T
The Nco Boost GB40 is perfect for anyone who wants a safe, compact, and reliable emergency jump starter without going too powerful or too expensive.Watch P
Today, I’m making the case for the NOCO GB40 UltraSafe jump starter to see how it can help you get your vehicle started in a battery emergency.Read G

Turns out I didn't have to wait long to try it out - just a week after I got it, my battery died. I tried to start my car with the GB40, but while it got the lights to come on, the engine just wouldn't quite turn over, and after 3 attempts, the Noco's charge was depleted. My car doesn't have a huge engine or anything (Subaru Forester), but it gets pretty cold where I live.Read B
So, yeah, the NOC Boost GB40 can be a great tool, and thousands swear by it. But there's also a decent chance you'll get one that underperforms or dies early. If you buy it, just know it's not bulletproof.Watch P
Possibly overkill if you only own a SuperminiRead A
On the con side, the GB40 isn't strong enough for larger diesel trucks or big V8 engines in extreme cold. So, if you need more power, the GB70 or GB150 models are better suited. Another drawback mentioned in reviews is that it only comes with a USB cable, not a wall charger, which some users found inconvenient.Watch

The worst investment in tools ever. The gb40 was purchased in Belding Michigan at a parts plus auto parts. Product was worthless. wouldn’t jump start anything bigger than a lawn mower. The solution was to pay the shipping to send it back to the manufacturer and wait for them to decide if it was out of specs. I will be filing a complaint with the better business as well.Read B
Noco GB40 is not to be compared with the Gooloo GP4000. The Noco is for smaller engines and the Gooloo will handle better those diesel engines. Real amp of the Noco is 244A while Gooloo is 619A, meaning Gooloo will be able to crank those dead diesel engines. Gooloo GP4000 should be compared with the Noco GB70 and the Wolfbox 4000A.Watch F Facebook Nathanael Warden · owner
I bought a Noco GB40 3 years ago and it's been great, up until the exact 3 year anniversary of the purchase, whereby it's now failed. What reasonably priced jump packs would people recommend for starting bigger engines (minimum 3.0 V6 diesel)? Up until last month, I'd have recommended this one, but not anymore!Read I Instagram Article
A few days ago, in another video, I made a quick comment that I thought the NOCO GB40 Boost Plus was kind of garbage. I didn't even spend any time talking about it. I just set it aside, grabbed my real jump pack instead, and kept working.Read J
Totally dead.used the key to get the GB40 out.put it on and it just lit up the dash and grunted the starter.Read

The GB40 has built-in protection that tells you if the clips are on backwards, which takes the guesswork out of it if you’re not used to using a jump starter. It made short work of my 2015 Kia Ceed, which is a diesel. I had a vague memory of hearing that you couldn’t jump-start diesel engines with a portable jump starter, but that’s outdated thinking.Read G
