After the first experience I purchased a NOCO Boost Plus GB40 1000A and keep it charged and in the car. When needed, I'd jump and then drive it for about an hour at highway speeds and it seemed to be ok, at least for a while. This past winter I took a trip to Wisconsin (I live in Minnesota) and stayed at a resort, parked outside, and the temperature dropped to about -9 over night.

The GB40 has built-in protection that tells you if the clips are on backwards, which takes the guesswork out of it if you’re not used to using a jump starter. It made short work of my 2015 Kia Ceed, which is a diesel. I had a vague memory of hearing that you couldn’t jump-start diesel engines with a portable jump starter, but that’s outdated thinking.

They have saved us many times. You never know when your battery is going to go out and you're going to need to jump start your vehicle possibly many times before you get your new battery at least once. So, this is a case. Uh now, this particular unit, the GB40, did come with a hard case. And, um it's pretty decent case, to be honest with you. You just got to remember to keep it charged up. Comes with a little charging cable. And, you know, that's about all I could say about the GB40. But, let's uh move on after I show you the case. There's where the the cables go. Zippers on both sides.

On the con side, the GB40 isn't strong enough for larger diesel trucks or big V8 engines in extreme cold. So, if you need more power, the GB70 or GB150 models are better suited. Another drawback mentioned in reviews is that it only comes with a USB cable, not a wall charger, which some users found inconvenient.
