Design: At just 120g, this is remarkably lightweight compared to alternatives such as the Cuktech 20 (630g). The slim profile fits perfectly against phone backs for wireless charging. Whilst it lacks a digital display, four LED indicators provide adequate charge level feedback. The soft-touch matte finish and curved edges feel premium and resist fingerprints, too.

We love how convenient the Nitecore NB10000 Gen4 is to bring on hikes and errands around town. On our kitchen scale, the unit checked in at just over 5 ounces, making it one of the lightest 10,000 mAh banks we tested. We also measured its dimensions to calculate total volume, and the Nitecore again stood out as one of the most compact banks in our lineup.

For most thru-hikes the Nitecore NB10000 Gen 4 is the answer: 143 g, two realistic phone charges, dual USB-C and IPX7. For long desert carries or sections with five-plus days between town power, step up to the Nitecore NB20000 Gen 3 at 291 g. A lot of experienced thru-hikers carry two NB10000s instead of one NB20000 for redundancy and flexible charging.

It is a beautiful new power bank and if you liked generation three, you will be excited about generation four. The packaging is classic as always. It seems to me that, following the example of Apple, they are constantly making the packaging smaller and smaller to make it lighter, smaller and easier to transport.

Also the Nitecore NB 10000 is an excellent bit of kit.
