I can confidently confirm that the Nespresso Vertuo Plus is the best part of my morning. That goes for its simplicity, overall ease of use and coffee shop-level taste. My frequent trips to the coffee shop every week have almost become a thing of the past. I used to love hitting the Starbucks drive-thru every Friday, but I really don’t see the point now that I basically have a barista living in my kitchen. Still, I enjoy the occasional coffee shop latte, but now I can save a few extra bucks each week thanks to the Nespresso. Next, I’m excited to try all the copycat coffee shop drinks !

The variety of flavors they have are excellent and I like that this machine makes espresso just like my old one. I hope you enjoy this review for the Nespresso Vertuo Plus.

The VertuoPlus is a work horse. I have been using Nespresso for 16 years. In that time, I have only replaced my VertuoPlus once. I highly recommend it. Makes excellent coffees, espresso, double espressos, cold brew, cold brew espresso. (Need their little freezer collection jar for the cold coffees). And with their frother, you can make cold or warm foam. Truly a great machine. I believe in the keep it simple philosophy. So many complaints about leakage on some of the newer machines.

In fact, it can be one of the best choices for a sub-$200 budget if your needs closely align with this coffee pod machine’s strengths.

The De’Longhi Nespresso Vertuo is definitively worth the investment for daily coffee and latte drinkers. While Vertuo pods cost roughly $1.20 each, the machine rapidly pays for itself within months by replacing $6 daily coffee shop habits, supported by robust hardware designed for a 4-to-6 year operational lifespan.

Nespresso introduces the VertuoPlus by De'Longhi, with an all-New design and colors for the ultimate brewing experience. Offering freshly brewed coffee with crema as well as delicious, authentic espresso, the VertuoPlus machine conveniently makes two cup sizes at the touch of a button: 8 oz. coffee and 1.35 oz. espresso. It uses two different capsule sizes: Large capsule coffee and a small one for espresso. Nespresso brings together the know-how of all its coffee experts, who have carefully chosen the origin and roasting of each coffee blend and created a brewing system using centrifusion technology, a patented extraction technology developed by Nespresso.

The Vertuo Plus and Vertuo Next get mixed reviews — many love the coffee but complain about grounds in the cup, leaks, and inconsistent customer service. The Vertuo Plus is often recommended over the Next, while delivery and promo issues with Nespresso’s website are a common frustration.

Pay up for the bigger tank and motorized head or save it and get basically the same cup. Let's make it clear. Coffee in the cup, that's the whole point. Both of these run the same Vertuo capsule system, same barcode reader, same Centrifusion spin. So, the basic extraction is identical. Thick crema, full body, that signature Vertuo layer of foam on top. Where they actually differ is brew temperature.

Descaling problems are a big headache for Vertuo Plus owners. The half red/half green light often stays on even after descaling, and sometimes the machine overflows or only brews 2oz instead of 7oz. The fix is usually to complete the full descaling cycle and then do a factory reset. If it keeps happening, Nespresso support can walk you through it or arrange a repair.

Many owners get stuck with the half red/half green descaling light even after running the cycle. The fix is usually holding the button and lever for 3-7 seconds to exit descaling mode, or letting the water tank run completely empty during the cycle. If that doesn’t work, Nespresso support can walk you through it or send a replacement if it’s under warranty.

The problem is the manual lever brew head design. Unlike other machines with motorized systems, the next relies on you physically pressing down a flimsy plastic lever to create a seal. Think of it like trying to seal a pressure cooker with just your hand strength instead of a motorized clamp. Over time, this manual lever mechanism fails to create proper pressure leading to water leakage, brewing failures, and complete mechanical breakdown. Coffee Holly member David reported his machine going haywire within 6 months, stopping mid-brew, rattling like a paint mixer, and eventually dying completely.
