The Graco 4Ever DLX is a great all-around seat suitable for most families, regardless of your goals. We love the better crash test sensor results and believe the 4Ever potentially offers an additional margin of protection based on our analysis. It had one of the lowest G-forces recorded by the chest clip sensor (lower is better) and one of the best combined results for the HIC and the chest clip.

The seat relies on friction and force, not mechanical advantage, which isn't ideal when you're lacking leverage—especially in more compact vehicles.

As a rear-facing infant car seat, it's excessively large and cumbersome and isn't likely to fit into smaller vehicles. And as a front-facing belt-positioning booster it starts to see a little narrow in the seat and torso for bigger kids. Also, after using the car seat for a few months, some of the adjustments got a little stiff and harder to use.

We returned it as I found the base to be unstable and hard to fasten tight. Go read reviews on it. It’s a common complaint. We went with the Graco 4Ever All-in-One Convertible Car Seat, 4-in-1 Baby to Big Kid Car Seat from 1.8-54 kg (4-120 lb). We have two now and think they’re great. Much more solid and strap tightens easily.

This seat is a great option for rear facing and forward facing harness modes. It’s easy to install, pretty roomy and comfy for most kids, and has no major vehicle compatibility issues. It lasts most kids in harness mode to about 5-7 years old depending on their size.

In general, we don’t love all-in-one-style seats. Yes, they’re all the rage right now! But in our experience, all-in-one seats just can’t quite do everything perfectly, from rear-facing all the way to booster mode. In the case of the 4ever, specifically, it’s a nice harnessed seat!
