I got the K12 last month and have been very pleased with it so far, but in my case I am pairing it with an external GPU over Oculink. Opening up the K12 to expand storage is very easy. First, just use your fingers to unscrew the 4 feet on the bottom and remove the outer shell. Then, all you need is a small screw driver to remove the 4 small screws (2 on each side) of the top panel.

And this one is very powerful. It's a little larger than most, but the reason for that is because it's packed with power.

The GMKtec K12 is the better fit if performance and expansion matter more than the smallest possible footprint. Its Ryzen 7 H 255 processor, Radeon 780M Graphics, DDR5 memory, PCIe 4.0 storage, USB4, OCulink, and dual 2.5G Ethernet make it the stronger choice for gaming, creator workloads, heavier productivity, and more demanding multi-screen setups.

Anyway, this unit is also upgradeable. You can have up to 128 gigs of RAM installed in this model, and you can also upgrade the SSD up to 24 TB. In addition to that, the K12 features two 2.5 gig Ethernet ports as well as Wi-Fi version 6E. So, it's great as a small desktop PC as well as a server within your home lab.

Something that I really like is that it has some rubber feet on the side, allowing you to prop it up vertically. Others do this with separate stands, but this is a better implementation and an addition I appreciate since I prefer my minis vertically. There's an RGB fan inside which is barely visible. You can cycle different lighting modes with the fan button.

In everyday use, the K12 handles office work fork, streaming, and multitasking with ease. Light gaming and evolution are possible thanks to the 780MIG GPU, though it's not meant for AAA titles at ultra settings. Although it can absolutely game, the K12 is ideal for home offices, HTPC setups, and students who need a compact yet capable machine.

I have found that I greatly prefer the K12 over a traditional laptop as I can just connect a full 27" 4K monitor and enjoy the expanded view vs a smaller laptop screen. Great design and lots of useful features packed into such a compact form!

You can see the K12 is doing better in time than the K8 Plus. First time I still make mate here on the K2 11. Here we compare the K12 with a Evo X1 AI. This is a Ryzen 9. And the K12 got 2,959 21 frames per second where the Vivo X1 got 3,44 and 25 frames per second. But that's because a stronger processor. So the base score for Pro 30,933.

Looking at the hardware configuration, GMK did not skimp on expansion potential. You get 32 GB of dual channel DDR5 memory running at 5600 MHz, which you can technically upgrade all the way to 96 or 128 GB down the road if your workload demands it. Storage is equally impressive for a chassis this size.
