GMKtec's K12 Mini PC is a powerhouse at its respective price point. Featuring 8 Zen 4 cores, a Radeon 780M iGPU, and support for high memory and storage capacities, this Mini PC is priced right and performs really well throughout the tests we ran on it. IO such as USB4, dual 2.5GbE LAN, and even support for Oculink is great. Plus, the triple M.2 config will ensure that users will never run out of storage space on this compact Mini PC. The dual-fan cooling setup also works great, with the CPU staying below 70 °C across all of the tests we ran. As for gaming performance, the 780M iGPU still offers decent performance, and with features such as AFMF2, Anti-Lag 2, and FSR3, it makes for a perfect table-top experience.

I got the K12 last month and have been very pleased with it so far, but in my case I am pairing it with an external GPU over Oculink. Opening up the K12 to expand storage is very easy. First, just use your fingers to unscrew the 4 feet on the bottom and remove the outer shell. Then, all you need is a small screw driver to remove the 4 small screws (2 on each side) of the top panel.

Anyway, this unit is also upgradeable. You can have up to 128 gigs of RAM installed in this model, and you can also upgrade the SSD up to 24 TB. In addition to that, the K12 features two 2.5 gig Ethernet ports as well as Wi-Fi version 6E. So, it's great as a small desktop PC as well as a server within your home lab.

This K12 is quite good, and if we want a mini PC, or rather, if we need to buy a computer, the Ryzen 7 H255 is, for me, without a doubt, the best value for money option today, since the Radeon 780M inside is quite powerful

Something that I really like is that it has some rubber feet on the side, allowing you to prop it up vertically. Others do this with separate stands, but this is a better implementation and an addition I appreciate since I prefer my minis vertically. There's an RGB fan inside which is barely visible. You can cycle different lighting modes with the fan button.

I have found that I greatly prefer the K12 over a traditional laptop as I can just connect a full 27" 4K monitor and enjoy the expanded view vs a smaller laptop screen. Great design and lots of useful features packed into such a compact form!

You can see the K12 is doing better in time than the K8 Plus. First time I still make mate here on the K2 11. Here we compare the K12 with a Evo X1 AI. This is a Ryzen 9. And the K12 got 2,959 21 frames per second where the Vivo X1 got 3,44 and 25 frames per second. But that's because a stronger processor. So the base score for Pro 30,933.

As shown by the picture below, the four feet on the NucBox K12 double as thumb screws similar to the feet on older Intel NUCs. Thumb screws allow for easier servicing without the need for any screwdrivers. Unfortunately on the GMK system, these thumb screws are small and tight with smooth metal perimeters for extremely poor gripping properties. In fact, loosening the thumb screws on our NucBox K12 test unit would require rubber bands and a monkey wrench. The thumb screws on Intel NUCs avoided this issue by being larger with rubber perimeters for easier gripping.
