Widely called “overrated” and not worth the price, with many reviewers noting its mediocre build quality for the cost. It offers little more than a cheap copy of higher-end SGs.

The Gibson SG Standard '61 Stop Bar is the timeless design that's universally adored, now presented in an alluring custom colour finish. These eye-catching coats are topped with Gibson's hand-applied gloss nitro layer, giving it that unmistakable SG sheen that'll draw the spotlight straight to you. And if the sharp looks don't entice, then the uproarious sixties sounds certainly will! Gibson's '60s Burstbuckers take the hot rock sounds of the period and give you that in modern form, with alnico 5 magnets and the additional power to make your notes sing.Read J

It's a beautiful instrument with classic rock aesthetics, and a tone that perfectly embodies those genres, while retaining the ability to get really heavy, if needed. This blend of classic rock, blues, and heavy punch is why the Gibson Burstbucker pickups (fitted on the SG Standard '61) are my favorite humbuckers from the Gibson brand.Read M

But I think I would have been happy with the epi IBG LP and a Gibson SG Standard or with both being Epis. I'm no elite player and these are all really nice guitars. These newer IBG Epis are not what Epis used to be (they are much better). On the bad side, they are more expensive than what they used to be.Read thread F Facebook Dorian Grayscale · owner
This guitar has been my go-to in recent years as I've been dealing with hand injury issues (not a good thing for a professional musician!), and it's just the kindest btw both the Gibson Scale and light gauge strings. Just feeling nostalgic.View post W
