Fellow Series 1
Bon Appétit's best overall and praised by Wired for temperature consistency and steam, but Food & Wine concedes it is not a budget buy, so it cannot outrank the machines above on this lens.

Having recently put the Fellow Espresso Series 1 through its paces in the Coffeeness kitchen, I had to add it to this list. That’s because this newly released home espresso machine is simply outstanding. In my opinion, the Fellow Espresso Series 1 is revolutionary because it will satisfy the most demanding home barista as well as a complete beginner. Seriously, this thing has it all.Read T

I received my Fellow Espresso Series 1 machine yesterday, and after a few system calibrations, I am happy with its consistency and ease of use. Something that my wife appreciates as well, since she was never able to use our previous espresso machine. I am using the Option-O Lagom Casa grinder with it, and it is perfect pairing with my ES1 for me.View post M
Now, I am super excited for this machine. I had a chance to pull a couple of shots on it at SCA Expo, but I haven't had a ton of time on it. So, this is going to be this is going to be quite a bit of fun. I'm not treating today as a review. This is truly me just opening this thing up, and it set up and we're going to make some coffee.Watch I Instagram Instagram post
Every review of the Fellow Espresso Series 1 says the same thing: it’s exceptional for one or two drinks a day. But what happens when everyone at brunch wants a coffee? We put it through 10 back-to-back drinks, tracked every shot, and found out exactly where its limits are.View post O
The whole idea about this machine is to make the entire experience of brewing espresso at home easier. Espresso brewing at home can be a bit intimidating, especially if you are starting new. The extraction, having scale to measure your coffee beans, measure the extraction, steaming milk. And if you have too many features, you might get overwhelmed easily.Watch T This is the Series 1 Espresso Machine from the... Facebook post
This is the Series 1 Espresso Machine from the team at Fellow, it’s one of the most highly-capable machines in its class, and the biggest problem Fellow has had is keeping enough of them in stock.View post S
I am stoked to be reviewing the first espresso machine from Fellow ever. This is the Series 1. I know I say this a lot about other coffee gear here, but when I saw this announced at SCA 2025, I was really excited to check this out. Especially since like I said, this is the first espresso machine that Fellow is putting out on the market.Watch S Seattle Coffee Gear Facebook post
Building on Fellow’s iconic design language and intuitive user interface, the Series 1 is everything you would expect from Fellow’s debut into home espresso and more.View post T
I can tell you when I first saw it, I thought, "Ooh, that is a nice looking machine." But let's just take a little bit closer look here. So, what you see is a big fat brew group right in the middle. This is a 58 mm brew group. Comes with a nice bottomless PA filter right away. So, that's cool. On the left side here, you've got the turn wheel and uh you've got a circular display.Watch S
The Fellow Espresso Series 1 brings that same craft-level control into a beautifully designed, thoughtfully engineered espresso machine.Read C
Not only is it a beautiful machine that's a joy for both beginners and pros alike, it also offers a level of flow control capability that you used to only find on machines that were about four times its price point. So, let me walk you through everything cool about Fellow's first espresso machine and help you decide if it should be your first espresso machine.Watch G
I was lucky enough to be one of the first to try it before it launched, and this high-tech gadget blew my mind.Read A
It's shockingly fast. It uses a 9-bar calibrated vibratory pump, but more importantly, it offers full pressure profiling, including pre-infusion, ramping up, and ramping down. And even temperature profiling, all adjustable thanks to the heating system. On the front, you'll find the 58-mm commercial group head with a brass core. This is electronically heated right where the extraction happens.Watch S
I've got this calibrated Fellow tamper, which I find is fantastic. What kind of matches? All right, so, Fellow Series 1 espresso machine, we're going to be using the hot water tap here. So, one of the three buttons up here, you've got brew, steam, and hot water.Watch W
Uh basic premise of this machine was to take a commercial machine and distill it down into an affordable home machine that gave you more capability than pretty much anything on the market. So like right now this machine can do pressure profiling pre-infusion with flow adjustment. You can set up multiple pressure stages. Um you can do temperature profiling to a degree.Watch S
Fellow has released a feature complete semi-automatic espresso machine.Read G
Bold, intelligent, precision engineered. This is more than a product launch. It's a new chapter in home coffee. After the success of the award-winning Aiden precision coffee maker, Fellow is building on its legacy of smart barista quality home brewing. This time with espresso at the core.Watch B
I still think that despite what I saw from the comment section of my reaction video that the Fellow Espresso Series 1 is going to be an awesome espresso machine, especially at the price point that it's coming in at.Watch B
Got an absolutely gorgeous bottomless 58 mm PA filter. Love that. It's got a good weight to it. I do not. Typically, I'll upgrade the PA filters on my other machines, but I I really am not going to feel the need to on this one. Fits into the group head really nice. They give us a stainless steel pitcher for the milk, a tamper that matches the wood on the PA filter handle.Watch B
If you want to check one of these out, I highly recommend it. I'll tag it down there.Watch B
But yeah, with those upgrades, this is a fantastic machine. You've also got a cool touch steam wand with auto purging when you put it down. This is going to be your water reservoir. It is removable. But yeah, if you're looking for an espresso machine that lets you tweak a lot of things and can do light roasts, Fellow Series 1 is definitely not a bad way to go.Watch R
I love the red. It's a big big steam wand. Nice looking drip tray. It's a beautiful beautiful machine. I think that's one thing Fellow has always been really good at is providing really aesthetically pleasing, beautiful pieces of equipment. And I think that's what people are at first always drawn to is how their equipment and their products look.Watch E
>> What I'm most excited about with this machine is the new boosted boiler technology. Invented by Fellow's Nick Terzulli, their VP of research and development. And speaking of, we just wrapped an amazing podcast with Nick that will be dropping very soon.Watch E
I love how long the steam wand is. Uh, makes it easy to reach in my pitcher, even for small amounts of milk. And later you'll be seeing that I can set the temperature of the the end temp of the steam steaming of the milk. I set mine to 57° and then perfect temperature every time. I'll try to get as many angles as I can, but we're using a standard 18 g using my DF64 Gen 2 grinder. Nice and hot.Watch B
The heat-up time is impressive. Under 2 minutes, the boiler reaches the target temperature, which is a real win if you're juggling a morning routine and can't afford to stand over a cold machine waiting for it to warm.Watch J
Um I got to play with it a little bit at World of Coffee, and I've been playing with it making coffee for the last, I don't know, about 3 or 4 weeks here, and I'm very impressed with it. It's really cool. Um there are definitely some quirks. It's not perfect, but the software has been making it better, which I think is a huge improvement.Watch M

Nice and heavy feel. It's actually pretty good. Better than I expected. Bottomless porto filter. There's the jug. It's a small the small version of the jug. The tamper. Decent tamper. And this is the pressurized basket, I believe. Yep. The shot splitter. It's a plastic shot splitter, unfortunately. Two dcaling packets. That's it. Let's get the machine up. All right.Watch G

This, my friends, is the new Fellow Espresso Series 1. And I'm pumped. So pumped to open this up and get it rolling. And so, you're going to find out with me how we do exactly that. While impressive, there is some room for improvement. An area that needs some development is the availability of brew profiles through the app – a prominent feature of the Fellow Aiden Coffee Maker. But as the software continues to update, the Series 1 will, no doubt, catch up very soon.Read M
But, after living with it daily, we found just as many flaws as things to love. The Series 1 absolutely commands attention on your counter with a clean, minimalist look. Fans of the brand will instantly recognize the dial controls and the mix of matte and glossy finishes from their Aiden Brewer, the Ode and Opus grinders, and their scale.Watch B
It isn’t a perfect machine, though. The steam wand, despite the thermistor that is supposed to help produce perfect texture every time, has taken more practice to consistently master than I expected. If I do not position the pitcher just so, I end up with unevenly steamed, thin milk.Read J
A lot of hubbub about the machine cuz it offers a lot of pretty cool features at a relatively low price.Watch B
Pros Heats quickly Entirely customizable A professional-style machine that’s still easy enough for beginners Cons ExpensiveRead J
I actually would like to use this. I think it's a pretty cool design. It just like pops on here. I saw this when they were making it. And it it's a nice design, but I don't love that it's plastic. It's kind of weird to put piping hot water on plastic. I know it's like BPA free and everything, but still not my favorite. Hopefully somebody makes a third-party metal one. Pretty nice tamper.Watch F

The Fellow Series 1’s biggest weakness in a 10-drink run? Not the shots. Not the steam. It’s this. Full test on the channel.View post E
Even if it's only drinks, that's a lot for a home machine. You have several issues, right? Your shot to shot consistency. Are my shots pulling the same? You probably pull your first shot. Oh, pull pretty good. Your second shot flies out of there like crazy or it pulls really slow cuz your temperatures are just wildly different. You pull a shot. You steam your milk.Watch
