Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium

H HVAC Site - Professional HVAC Contractors Forum Article · May 2026

I went with the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium because I liked the built-in Alexa and the remote sensors, which help balance temperatures in rooms that always ran hot or cold. A friend of mine swears by the Nest for its learning features and how seamlessly it ties into Google Home . It really comes down to which ecosystem you’re already using. Both save money long-term and make life more convenient. Picking one felt like looking up the Southwest Gas phone number , straightforward, but still worth double-checking details!

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium makes the most sense for households with an uneven-temperature multi-room layout, where a single sensor in a hallway has historically meant one room always runs too hot or too cold — the included SmartSensor addresses that directly, and it's the single feature that most changed daily comfort in our testing. It's also a good pick for anyone who wants voice control without adding an always-on smart speaker to a room where they wouldn't otherwise put one.

not only did my furnace start working perfectly, but I also discovered some amazing features I didn't even know I needed. I'm talking about detailed energy monitoring that actually makes sense, air quality tracking that affects my work productivity (yes, really!), and those genius room sensors that changed everything about how comfortable my home feels. If you're debating between smart thermostats or thinking yours isn't working properly, you'll definitely want to see this comparison and why I'm never going back to Nest.

After installing and testing the ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium in our smart home, it's easy to see why it consistently ranks among the best smart thermostats on the market. Rather than simply controlling your heating and cooling, ecobee has built a true smart home hub that combines climate control, indoor air quality monitoring, voice assistant functionality, home security features, music streaming, and smart home automation into one beautifully designed device.

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium is a great option, and includes an air quality monitor and smart smoke alarm detection, and you can view a live feed from your Ecobee video doorbell on its display. It's not dramatically different to the Honeywell Home and Nest options above, but Ecobee does have a strength; the more budget-friendly Smart Thermostat Essential , at a price-point many others don't match.

ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium wins for most buyers — the included SmartSensor and built-in air quality monitor justify the $20 premium and then some. Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) is the right call for pure Google Home households who want a thermostat that programs itself from scratch with zero configuration.
