Flagged as a product to avoid

8 of 9 research runs entered this as a product to avoid rather than a pick.

A detailed owner review on r/cradlewise documents returning it after nine months of use, and its core function depends on firmware, motors and an app - failure points a wooden crib does not have - at a luxury price. The single worst long-term ownership bet in the category.

  1. A detailed owner review on r/cradlewise documents returning it after nine months of use, and its core function depends on firmware, motors and an app - failure points a wooden crib does not have - at a luxury price. The single worst long-term ownership bet in the category.

    Flagged 17 September 2026
  2. It costs flagship-of-flagships money for electronics bolted onto a crib, in a category where essentially all new cribs are equally safe and a basic safe crib plus a separate monitor costs a fraction. The heaviest-marketed crib in the category pushes hardest exactly where the performance-for-money case is weakest.

    Flagged 17 September 2026
  3. Its core value proposition is the app, AI monitoring, and auto-soothing hardware, so when the startup's app support ends you are left with an extremely expensive ordinary crib. A detailed owner review ended in a return after nine months, with follow-up questions describing how difficult the return was.

    Flagged 17 September 2026
  4. The most aggressively marketed and most expensive crib in the category sells auto-soothing tech that a good standalone baby monitor plus a budget crib replicates for a fraction of the cost, and since all cribs meet the same federal safety standard, the expensive crib is not safer. A widely viewed TikTok video with over 63,000 likes lays out why the purchase disappoints.

    Flagged 17 September 2026
  5. The category's hardest-marketed product and its clearest long-ownership failure: a documented owner returned it after nine months, and its camera, screen, and app dependence expose the nursery to firmware and support risk for the life of the product.

    Flagged 17 September 2026
  6. The most expensive product here and the least crib per dollar: a massive premium for built-in monitoring and auto-soothing that a mid-range crib plus a good baby monitor replicates, with creator-documented buyer regret behind the marketing.

    Flagged 17 September 2026
  7. The most regret-prone purchase in the category: a heavily upvoted r/pregnant thread titled "Do not buy that expensive crib" walks through buying one at the flagship tier and concluding it was not a good investment. The sensing and auto-soothing tech is a costly layer on top of an already-solved problem, since all cribs meet the same federal safety standard.

    Flagged 17 September 2026
  8. Its core soothing and monitoring functions depend on app support and firmware that outlive no hardware generation, it costs as much as several of the entire picks combined, and the exit evidence is already visible: a documented nine-month owner return and a widely circulated warning video. Buy the Babyletto Hudson and a good monitor instead.

Well, it definitely IS! I love that this bassinet crib grows with your baby until they're 2 years old. I also love the AI baby camera monitor that's built in. Also, it keeps track of when your baby is placed into the crib and when it starts to startle, it rocks itself.

You can't put a price on a well rested baby, but they can take some of the price off. While the MSRP on the crib will be around $1999, if you pre-order now with $500 down, you will save $500 on the total price, bringing the unit down to $1499. The Smart Crib will ship in May of 2022.

The bigger bet: the next generation of parenting technology may not just monitor babies — it may learn how to help them sleep.
