After months of daily use, it’s the best option I’ve tested for renters and anyone who doesn’t want to mess with under-sink plumbing. But it’s not for everyone, and the ongoing filter costs are something you need to factor in before buying. Full disclosure on where this review ends up: I liked the Classic enough that my home has slowly turned into an AquaTru showroom. The Carafe came next, then their shower filter, then their hydrogen tablets, and I’ll cover each one where it fits in the review. We put together a water filtration guide that covers this whole category.Read B BOS Water BOS Water · 23K subscribers · Mar 2026
The Classic models score slightly higher overall thanks to small usability advantages and lower long-term filter costs. The Carafe models are still a great option if you want lower upfront cost, a smaller footprint, lighter weight, glass water storage, and slightly less wastewater.Watch Y
What makes the AquaTru Classic worth a look is the absolutely unmatchable certification scorecard it carries. It has more than 30 certified claims across four NSF/ANSI standards (42, 53, 58 and 401). It targets all the major problem-makers, including lead, arsenic, nitrates, PFAS, chloramine and microplastics. Of course, the technology comes at a price — about $475 before considering the ongoing cost of filtration. It also takes up counter space, which is definitely something to consider if your kitchen is on the smaller side.Read B BOS Water BOS Water · 23K subscribers · Jul 2026
Our highest-rated countertop RO systems to date. (Almost) perfect lab results, full NSF certification (nothing else comes close), low wastewater, and lower long-term costs (~$86/year). Main tradeoff: the water is stored in Tritan plastic, not glass. The Smart version adds app-based water monitoring for $50 more — nice, but not a must.Watch C
That is the strongest independent certification stack available on a countertop RO unit sold in Australia. The NSF/ANSI 58 certification validates the RO membrane’s performance against a controlled test standard, including rejection rates for PFAS-class compounds. The NSF/ANSI 401 certification covers emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals and microplastics. These are third-party verified — not self-declared specifications.Read P PureReviews PureReviews · 12.2K subscribers · Apr 2026

In our testing, all three models removed up to 100% of all the trace contaminants in our water , and the Alkaline Classic increased carbonate, bicarbonate, and pH. The AquaTru is a mid-priced system and has a good design, but we found the water dispensing quite slow and we didn’t like having to upgrade for the benefit of remineralization.Read S Suggest 360 Suggest 360 · 5.1K subscribers · Dec 2023

I've had this water filtration system for a year and a half now and I am still obsessed with it. So, I have been looking for something for cleaning my water through from the sink because of all the contaminants that I'm sure you know about that are going into our water system. So, I was looking for something that would clean everything out of there and so that way I could have some clean water. The AquaTru Classic’s design, in particular, is limiting, because you can fit only a glass — not a pitcher, nor most water bottles — under the dispenser. The AquaTru Carafe (and similar models from other makers) solves that issue but doesn’t address the other inherent drawbacks of countertop RO.Read A Andrew Rock Youtube Andrew Rock Youtube · 2.3K subscribers · Dec 2025
