If you're fine sticking with a previous-gen AM4 motherboard, the Ryzen 5 5600 makes a great base for a budget build. The primary trade-off for the AM4 platform is that you're limited to DDR4, and you don't have access to PCIe 5.0. You also have a limited runway for upgrades, as the fastest gaming CPUs on AM4 – the Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 7 5800X3D – have reached end of life.Read I
>> This is a Ryzen 5 5600, a Zen 3-based AMD 6-core from 2022, and it's a weirdly relevant CPU right now. The AM4 socket remains popular with PC enthusiasts, mainly because nobody can afford to upgrade to DDR5 memory due to the ongoing RAMageddon. However, most of the attention goes to chips like the 5500X3D and 5800X3D, as their 3D V-Cache lets them compete with some of the later AM5 modelsWatch F Facebook Conner Murray · owner
It's still a very capable CPU that can handle even much stronger cards than the 1080, absolutely nothing wrong with gaming on a 5600. AliExpress should be fine as long as you buy from a reputable seller. I've always stuck to at least B tier for PSU.View post R

For budget gaming builds, a Ryzen 5 5500 or Ryzen 5 5600 is usually the best choice. They deliver excellent 1080p performance, handle esports titles smoothly, and pair well with mid-range GPUs, all without increasing total system cost too much.Read G
While having an equal number of cores and threads, the Ryzen 5 5600 has shown overall better performance than the 5500 due to its higher boost clock speed and larger L3 cache, allowing for better faceful data during gaming.Read G
However, the Ryzen 5 5600 clocks at a slightly higher frequency than the 5500, with a 4.2 GHz boost versus 4.0 GHz. This gives the 5600 an edge in single-threaded performance, which is particularly important for gaming.Read T
For your setup (Gigabyte A520M K V2 + RTX 3070), I'd recommend the Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X as the best balance.Read Q
For most gamers, Ryzen 5 5600 offers nearly identical gaming performance to the 5600X at a lower cost.Read E

Six cores of solid performance that handles most tasks without breaking a sweat. But lately, I’ve been hitting walls that feel more like limitations than temporary bottlenecks.Read C
So, let's begin today's journey with Black Myth Wukong, on which surprisingly the Ryzen 5 5600 managed to outperform the 8400F on 1440p medium by a whole 3 FPS. And guess what? The exact same thing happened on 1080p. It got like 3 FPS more than the 8400F, which is not a big difference for sure, but it's there to be acknowledged.Watch C
It can do all these tasks, but if you're multitasking like a madman, the six cores can start to bottleneck. So, if your life's Adobe Premiere 247 or you're running 500 Chrome tabs while training AI models, maybe look at something like the Ryzen 75800X or possibly even jump to the AM5 platform. Now, the only reason you'd look at getting a CPU like this is about the price.Watch
