After running about 60 miles in it, I think it’s my favorite Altra road shoe ever. Whether you consider it a shoe for transitioning to a zero-drop shoe or, more likely (like me), that it becomes the most minimal, natural-riding shoe in your quiver is up to you.

We got the Altra Experience Flow 3 and the Altra Wild 3 and we're going to take them on a test drive for a couple miles and just see how they feel. Let's start with the Experience Flow 3. Right off the bat, um I'm very comfortable.

They felt like a glove in the store. I can't wait to take them out on the road. I really hope these are my forever shoes, I will get all the colors! My Torin 8s are working but I have to do a lot of work to get them to feel right.

Flow 3, really light under foot, feels like a cloud. Flow ST, more support with that guide rail technology. That's the difference. See you. Just kidding. We'll do a whole review for you. The Experience Flow 3 is for runners looking for a really simple, dialed down shoe for general daily use, walking, running, a little bit of trail use potentially, and maybe for the gym.

Bottom line, the Flow 3 is a great shoe with excellent updates to the only issues I had.

Um they were one of my favorite Altra shoes in recent memory. Uh they um added the Ego P35 foam, which is some kind of polyolefin additive to their Ego Max, and it actually made the shoe nice and bouncy. Uh the previous version of the Experience Flow was actually a compressed EVA, which felt a little firm.

Very comfortable shoe. When it came out, I said it was the best shoe from Altra in my opinion in quite some time. These come in Well, when I look at the website for Altra and then other websites, weights are all over the place for this. So, I'm just going to give you my weight in 11 men's size 11 and 1/2, which is what I have. Men's size 11 and 1/2, I'm getting 8.8 oz or 260 g.

So, my first like and straight off the bat, this shoe is supremely comfortable. I wore it for a couple of runs before the half marathon and then the half marathon itself, which included running down from the hotel, getting warmed up, doing the half marathon, and then walking another 3 km back to the car. And I did it all in this shoe whilst it was soaking wet. The conditions were abhorrent.

For most walkers, absolutely. The Altra Experience Flow 3 is such a high-quality and well-rounded walking shoe. It'll keep you moving and grooving mile after mile with its exceptional comfort and stability. That said, it's not a complete all-terrain shoe — for any path more rugged than mild forest trail, you'll want something a little hardier.

Not ideal for: super hot/humid high-intensity sessions (breathability is good, not elite)

The Flow's fit IS a bit wonky and I have found that the shape of the sole does allow for my foot to wobble a little inwards - It doesn't bother me when I'm running though. The Torins base is much wider, if you were to flip it over and look at the sole it doesn't come in to a narrow section near the arch, it just stays wide.

Honestly, I'd say I'm not getting a ton of energy return out of this shoe and midsole, but for a daily trainer, easy workhorse of an option, the Altra Experience Flow 3 does really well.

Despite the stable heel counter with nice padding for the Achilles tendon area, overall it's not a very stable shoe, but rather one that still offers that natural running feel

I've logged a good chunk of miles in both models and now that I see this post/review to think about it, I can agree the 3 is less bouncy than 2, but it wasn't something bugging me before now.

It had a 32 in the heel, 28 in the forefoot for 4 mm drop. It had a compressed EVA foam.
