The 9900 is designed to be simpler to use, but more powerful for you, in building better oral care habits. It comes at a price though.

It has a simple on and off switch, and an illuminated battery icon indicator, a brush head replacement reminder, and smooth touch control.

Buying a high-end toothbrush like the Sonicare Prestige 9900 isn’t a necessity, but it is worthwhile if you’ll take advantage of the brush’s advanced features and if you frequently travel. It also makes great eye candy for your bathroom counter.

What surprised me most was how gentle it feels while still making your mouth feel professionally cleaned afterward. You know that super slick feeling after a dental appointment? You genuinely get close to that here. The adaptive pressure system is probably the standout feature in day-to-day use. If you brush too hard, and a lot of people do, the toothbrush automatically adjusts intensity.

And I definitely like having that more power. Now, one of the issues that starts to come up is the the toothpaste might kind of spray a bit. So, you have to make sure that you keep your mouth closed. And if you do so, you will get a a cleaner end result. Now, the other thing that's cool about this is it interacts with an app on your phone.

Skip it if you’re content with a mid-range Sonicare and don’t want to pay flagship money for on-handle coaching. The core drivetrain already appears in the cheaper 5000 to 7000 series. You’d mainly be paying for the guidance layer and the design.

The charging and travel case is a bit lacking in my opinion. It's not as though this case will hold a charge so you can leave the cords and cables at home while on the move. With this you will need to bring the cable and plug it in to the case then place the toothbrush into the case in order for it to recharge.

The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean 9900 Prestige can rattle slightly when closed, and there’s a small risk it might shift if not positioned carefully. It’s not a major flaw, but at this price point, you’d expect the finish to feel a touch more secure.
