I’d heartily recommend the Nikon Monarch M7 8x42 for this reason. Of course, you could opt for one of the other three model variants (8x30, 10x30 or 10x42), which are of equal quality. However, if you are using these regularly for stargazing then we’d perhaps advise against the 8x30 model only, due to the light restriction you would see with the smaller 30 mm objective lenses.

The Monarch M7 sits deliberately in what Nikon calls the mid-premium tier: ED (extra-low-dispersion) glass that controls the color fringing cheaper binoculars struggle with, a 362-foot field of view at 1,000 yards, fully multicoated optics, and a locking diopter — all well under four figures. That's a real engineering commitment at this price point, not a marketing dress-up of budget glass.

Con NIKON si cade sempre in piedi e inoltre questo MONARCH M7 10x42 conferma ancora una volta che oggi il divario di prestazioni ottiche fra un TOP di gamma e un binocolo di fascia media si è di molto assottigliato, tutto a vantaggio dello strumento più economico.

I rate the Monarch M7 image as good but not perfect, chromatic aberration (color fringes around objects) is well controlled in the image center but not towards the edge. Contrast is very good but not always as good as with naked eyes. Do I expect too much? And, bright light sources from behind me, or near the entry pupil, can cause internal flaring.

Optical Quality: Both offer excellent optical clarity, but the Nikon Monarch M7 has a slight edge in color accuracy and low-light performance due to its coatings and ED glass.
