The trap door has been removed as it was a major failure point. The odour seal is now the brush seal strips on the underside of the drum. The M1 Lite also has no trap door but there are no brush seal strips to keep the odour in. I believe the M1 Lite will still be sold but I heard it will be missing the weight tracking software to price it lower.

None of my cats have had any difficulties. Um, he apparently likes it. He wants to be part of this. But that open top, um, let cats get in and out of it easily. Uh, the weight range is from, uh, 2 lb basically up to 33 lb. So, it's pretty uh significant weight range. So, another interesting thing is the capacity of this. Uh the bin where the litter goes is 11.23 L, almost 3 gall.

This thing is an absolute game changer for cat ownership. Relatively easy to maintain, and takes all of the work out of dealing with a litter box. Not to mention the fact that at least for us it saves a lot of litter - probably enough to pay for itself over a year or so. We have had no problems with either unit (kock on wood).

I would say that the Nikasa M1 is safer between the weight sensors and infrared sensors. I think this one wins for the safety features. Can the Pet Pivot start cleaning if a cat is nearby? Yes. Pet Pivot Auto Scooper will only sense if a cat is inside of the box. So, anytime that my cats tried to enter the box, it stopped immediately and stopped really well. It's really, really great. She goes and she checks her work. She makes a spin around and then the litter box is going to do its thing. It's going to rotate on its own and it's going to detect that there's been a cat in there and that they have left the litter box. And that's all through the app.

It does come with a mat and it does catch most of the litter, but I do find this box does have a little bit more tracking than some of the other ones I've tried. It is exceptionally good though at just filtering out the clumps and then dumping those clumps directly into the waistbin below. When it does rotate, it does open up the entire waistbin.
