The suction is strong. That was obvious the first time I used it on a rug in my living room. It picked up dust, crumbs, and pet hair that my older vacuum had clearly been leaving behind. I also like that I can adjust the suction level. There are six settings and I do use them.

If you have carpet or thick carpet, I don't think this would be the best one for you. I think this is going to be more for your hardwood floor. The main reason for that is the the part the bottom that you will probably use the most. This doesn't have one of those spinny brushes inside of there. This will just do a good job rolling across, sucking everything through the slot in there.

I would've agreed with this until my cord reel just stopped working, vacuum was used sparingly and not abused
